kyanderson you should check bizarro, a old album by wedding present, it kick ass. I suggest a great band too-social distortion-white light, white heat, white trash, a great album. Also check afghan whigs, 1965. That’s all for now folks

Alright, I have some questions for J:

How does he feel about playing bass himself for the recording of More Light?

We’ve read that he was already working on songs for a next album. Does he have a lot of material already, and is he planning on bringing out an album after More Light quite fast?

How does he write his lyrics? Has this changed over the years? Why does he never print them in the cd booklet? (The lyrics in Quest are ‘transcribed’ by someone else.)

Jasper

"Ever since Uma left, things haven’t really been the same. Everyone has their head down, and no one’s smiling anymore. The other day, a guy lit himself on fire and no one even cared – because Uma wasn’t around anymore."

– J Mascis

If you can’t think of a question yet take yer time (not too much) and come back to post it.
I’m going to see the Fog Oct. 26th in NC.
I’ll try to get J to answer whatever questions don’t get asked at this radio interview.

pile ’em on!

I couldn’t agree with you more. i downloaded this nugget from the label web site and haven’t stop listening since. until i get the whole album and listen more carefully, this has to be my favorite J song in a long time. when i first heard that Bob Pollard would do backing vocals, i was thrown off. but J has written such great backup vocal parts for tiffany anders, i guess i shouldn’t have been surprised that he wouldn’t do the same for Mr Pollard. this song is GREAT!!! i love the part when he says something like, "write a pilot, call it my life (its sad)".

One of the shops in Denmark Street (which, for you US users, is London’s answer to NYC’s 48th st.) has a large range of vintage Electro Harmonix pedals in stock. Can’t remember the name, but if you go down there, you will see them in the window.

You could also try eBay. I’ve recently bought a Clone Theory from someone in the US. Once you’ve added shipping and a 110v transformer, the cost starts to creep up though…

Friday is actually the 6th, so is the interview Friday or Saturday? I have friends in that area; I’d like to get someone to tape it for me. Post if you can!

As for questions, well, last night I had a dream that J came into my room barefoot with wet hair and took a nap on my bed. Maybe it means something??

I know very few people give a damn…and I don’t blame you for not asking it…but i’d be interested in knowing what J.’s got in his golf bag (in terms of golfing equipment…i’m not trying to incriminate the guy or anything).

Mmmmmmm….floor pie.

J has said that he doesn’t write autobiographically, but I think that’s a bit of a fib, some of the time at least. No offense, but the CD theory is weak, and I don’t get that from it at all. Where’d You Go has a very optimistic feel to it, and I think the music that I’ve heard so far is a little more upbeat that most of his previous work. I think J has to be feeling positive and more than a little liberated about his new beginning away from the whole Dino Jr thing, kind of a fresh start and out there with his own name on it. I always smile at the part of the song where he says "I’m full of love, I’m full of love." Sounds heartfelt, and it’s too cool.

Reverb-heavy? never heard that in an album review before (unless is was Dick Dale or something).

One of the original dino sites on the web was a japanese site and he had a link to them and said they were friends of his. Pretty strange but cool.
What format did you download that in? mp3, ra (this site was up pre-mp3 is why I am asking)
