Just to follow up Tim’s sister has not e-mailed me back in answer to my question. Either she never received my e-mail, she decided not to bug him, or she’s trying to tell me that she never liked me anyway . In light of Jeremiah’s input, I guess there’s no need to pursue it further, although it would be cool if she would forward a link to this site to him…I’m SURE he has time to browse the web (yeah, right.) I will definitely be taking in the movie, but probably not until it hits video stores. I just don’t think The Ladies Man is a very funny sketch. She told me two years ago he was going to make a movie from it, but she also said he was supposed to get his own sitcom, which has as of yet not materialized!
From an article in a guitar magazine I have I know that all J’s Martins are 12 fret guitars, except maybe one, but he doesn’t mention the Gibsons at all. Sorry!
No earthly idea about "Start Choppin’"….but I have always wondered about the song "Feel the Pain." The opening (and often repeated line) "I feel the pain of everyone…but later I feel nothing" always reminded me of our Commander-In-Chief’s "I feel your pain" quote. Also, to me, seems like J’s pretty accurate in that context. It may have nothing at all to do with that…I can’t imagine J. leafing through "National Review" on a flight to Europe….but ya never know. I would have never thought of J as a golfing dood.

I think its about a girlfriend who is dwelling on a fight and the song is about her getting over it and dealing with the problems
"You look down at me and see a fool, you look up at me and see your lord, you look at me and see yourself"
Charles MansonI described Green Mind as being "nervous", but I didn’t mean just the lyrics, I ment everything about it. I think a lot of it is in J’s drumming, but it’s also in everything else.
Like the lyrics, that seem even more nervous and anxious than those on other albums (except for Dinosaur, probably, but the lyrics on Where you been, for example, I would rather call melancholic). And this is something I love about Green Mind –"Scary things across the water,
you never know till they have their way with you."Jasper
"How wrong Emily Dickinson was! Hope is not ‘the thing with feathers.’ The thing with feathers has turned out to be my nephew. I must take him to see a specialist in Zurich."– Woody Allen
Green Mind is a good cd by the standards of music but by the standards of J/Dino it sucks i tried really hard to get into the whole cd and the only songs i like are "Water" Green Mind" and "thumb" now if a album has three good songs its usually considered a really good album but with every other dinosaur Jr album i get into the whole album each second of it, its not that way for green mind, besides its my opinion you may love it, then good for you,
"the thrill we never know is the thrill that will get ya when you see the picture on the cover of the rolling stone"

Dr. Hookthis is my list
1. Your Living All Over Me (best fucking dino cd ever every song is a classic on it)
2. Dinosaur (I like every song on here including mountin man)
3. Where You Been (Great fucking album it makes you sit down feel lonely and cry, even if your friends are right next to you)
4. Without a sound (I love Feel The pain, and I dont think so a hell of a lot)
5. Bug (good cd even though there were a couple of bad songs, but the psycore "Dont" moved it up in the standings)
6. Hand It Over(its good i still listen to it about 3 times every week)
7. Green Mind (all it does is gather dust in my cd case)
"the thrill we never know is the thrill that will get ya when you see the picture on the cover of the rolling stone"
Dr. HookI wasn’t going to say anything, but…although I heartily disagree that it’s a dull tune, I do think that Same Day is MUCH more infectious. I thought maybe it was to account for differing tastes, nationally speaking, but I see you are from the UK and you think it’s dull, so that kinda blows that theory.
Definitely Cecil, so cool in a creepy sort of way.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT ALL OF J’s LYRICS FELL INTO THE REALM OF "NERVOUS/ANXIOUS".
Huh…..looks like I might be the Bizzaro-RuBrick.

I’m very annoyed the first thread was deleted.
Here we go again:
1) GREEN FREAKIN’ MIND!!! And for those of yous who don’t like it — It’s kinda funny that someone mentioned the lyrics being somewhat anxious (or nervous or sumpin’ like that)…that album got me through a couple of years that were the height of my anxiousness. I got a lot of it (anxiousness that is).
2) Without a Sound — I think this CD moved up in the past week. Love that "I Don’t Think So."
3) Your Living All Over Me — Best Cover
4) Hand It Over — J breaks out the banjo. I love bluegrass (although "Gettin’ Rough" sounds nothing like bluegrass).
5) Where Ya Been — I don’t remember ever purchasing this CD. Wierd.
6) Bug — Too non-listenable. Wasn’t this the CD that had the song "Don’t"?? Sheesh. It also had "Freakscene"…one of my faves.
7) Dinosaur — See first comment for Bug.#’s 2-5 move around almost on a monthly basis. But hey….it’s all good.
