Yeah… I went to http://capitalinteractive.co.uk/
Here is what it said
Gone today but here tomorrow.Due to essential maintenance work on our servers the site will be unavailable
for a short period from Tuesday 19th September whilst the backroom boffins
fine tune the technology. We’ll be on-line again within 24 hours and all should
back to normal by Wednesday 20th September.
Please bear with us whilst we carry out this work which marks the first stage
of some very exciting changes for the website over the coming months. Don’t
forget to check back soon for up-to-the-minute station news, great music
features and more…
In the meantime, stay tuned and thank you for your patience!
And I can’t get in to the XFM site either. Maybe they are both on the same server… But it is Sept 20th (Wednesday) in the UK now! 7:00AM I think. So why does it not work? Maybe they will be back up in an hour. They must have started the maintanance some time in the morning.
But let’s say they go back up. Is 20:00 to 23:00 UK time about 7:00 to 10:00 AM Eastern Standard US time? Might be worth calling in sick to find out if the server is up again.
I may be totally off on that time zone conversion. And maybe I misunderstood that message the server gave me as well.
Thanks for the heads up!
Actually I have a Mexican strat with the factory pickups on it… The whammy bar hole is stripped so I’d like to get a new one. What sort of pickups should I be looking for? As for the amp I have a marshall jcm 2000 amp running through a fender cab… What sort of delays do you prefer? I’ve got a dod analog delay which is alright cause it replicates tape delay… but I was wondering if anyone had a memory man… I’ve heard those are great little machines.

http://www.jamalong.com”>http://www.jamalong.comi would agree with the Fender Reverb advice. start off with a good amp. i have a Pro Reverb, but the Deluxe is more desirable. the only bad thing with an old tube amp is, you guessed it, old tubes. i need to overhall this thing which will cost me some $$. the electronics need work too, the thing pops and clicks and the fuse is temperamental.
after that, you can upgrade your guitar. a fender strat is definitely gunna give you a "strat" sound (eric clapton) and a les paul is gunna give you a "gibson" sound (slash from Guns and Roses). j’s sound isn’t really either, cuz his guitars are pretty customized. telecasters are great, but they give you a pretty distinct sound that you may not want. i guess you should decide if you want new or used equipment. and if you want used, do you want vintage? if you can find a good deal on a nice vintage guitar, i would get it regardless of the type. as far as new guitars, shop around for the best deal and what you like the most. a new Fender Jazzmaster reissue is not going to sound much like J mascis until you change the pickups and run it through a bunch of effects with a marshall stack. but at least you have a sound you are looking for.

ps i’ve got a gibson 335 that doesn’t sound too great distorted since its a hollowbody, so stay away from hollowbodies!! (i was into playing jazz, which is where i made that mistake!!)
[img]http://www.freakscene.net/ubb/smilies/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] Yep it’s real! From an older UK mag I have. I’ll get that article (with more pics) up on the site ASAP! Man I have a lot to do!

This sure is not a safe way to do this….Just playing around I changed the price to $10.00 and it accepts that as the price. I am not advising anyone to do this, I am just saying that someone should mention this to them I doubt they would honor the illegally altered price anyway, just strange that they are passing this data like that.

You can also pre-order copies of More Light from Amazon.com. They offer it for about $14….which after shipping is added, comes to about $16…
Hehe… I’m adding a hack to fix it so that you can update subjects too [img]http://www.freakscene.net/ubb/smilies/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

"Chops? I don’t have chops. Who do you think I am, Yngwie?" <- J MascisMost of your tone comes from your amp, not your guitar. So, if you can get a good amp, any decent guitar will sound good through it. You’ll get different sounds from different pickups, especially between single and double coil.
If you can find one, the Fender Deluxe Reverb is one of the best sounding amps ever made, and it’s all tube. The reissues are alright, but they’re difficult to repair if they mess up due to the printed circuitry (the old ones have good ole’ hard wiring.) I’d recommend an older one (pre 70’s) You won’t likely find one cheap though, but they aren’t terribly expensive either. Definitely worth the money though… It’s what I use! What model of strat are you thinking of buying (Standard(mexican made), American Standard, Deluxe, etc.)
I have a Standard (mexican) strat, it plays well, but the pickups aren’t that great (I intend to replace them) and I’ve already replaced the crappy tuners that came with it. The American Standards and above come with pretty decent pickups and the very good "schaller" tuners.
If you want to look into other choices, my main guitar is a ’94 American Standard Tele, which I absolutly love. It’s the best purchase I’ve ever made. You might want to try a Tele out. I know J likes them.

September 20, 2000 at 2:47 am in reply to: Article on Watt touring with J from RollingStone.com #53968So the European leg of the tour is Nov 27 to Dec 10… So I’ll be at the last gig of the tour – again! I wonder whether the Astoria is going to be the only UK gig!? He managed 4 on the last tour (3 of which I attended!)

"A faith like a guillotine, as heavy, as light." — F.K.I don’t know if this html is going to work but here goes.
The site is
<BLOCKQUOTE><font>codeQuote:<pre><P><A>Ultematummusic.com</A></pre>(this should be a hot link to Js part of the site.)
And this should be a hot link to the purchase page:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font>code
Quote:<pre><A>Buy js CD</A></pre>Actually I think I am going to wait for the VINYL as I think CDs suck!! (just my opinion… But it is a fact that "jewel cases" suck.)
But what about the single? Do I have to go to City slang in the UK to purchase that? or is it in Germany? They want me to pay in Duetch Marks…
But I don’t think these links are going to work like this.
Here they are again in this uuc code:
