I missed MAGGOT BRAIN, KEEBLIN’ and OUT THERE.
Maggot brain, what a great cover with an impressive and deep solo. I still can’t believe he hold it for about twelve mins. Unbelievable!!!

Albert CamusHey,
Definitely a difficult choice picking fav singles, looks like we might have another choice soon. Keep your eyes out for a single release in Europe…Wastin, B side supposedly will have Leaving on a Jet Plane and a new song…oh so cool.
Take a Run at The Sun has moved up on my list, amazing songs on that single. Probably also has something to do with the fact that I am SICK of winter and want to Take a Run at The Sun…literally.

I got the whole point, but there’s so much I could say and I would be meaningless, coz it’s obvious that his music changed my life, in one way or another.
I’ve noticed that everyone felt inspired by the lyrics, but most of all, the first time I heard J, the cruel melancolic music trapped me, painful chords getting out of that desperate lonely soul. It’s an undescribable sensation, and that’s why I love this feeling of sadness and depression, coz it’s the only way I can keep awake and alive.
If someone asks me what’s J music for me, probably I would say, "You’re asking me to define the whole universe in the limited terms of language".

Albert CamusAm I the only one who liked the last Sonic Youth album??
I don’t think it was that bad, and I specially liked NEVERMIND, RENEGADE PRINCESS and NYC GHOSTS AND FLOWERS.Maybe it wasn’t as good as A THOUSAND LEAVES, but you got to admit that it’s the perfect soundtrack for the worst and darkest nightmare.

Albert CamusHey Foglight,
Go for it, follow the link spaceboy put up in his first post and that should take you where you need to be.
Remembered a few other answers after some sleep,
Played guitar for about 17/18 years
Got into the music business by…forming a band, recorded, signed…there you go
took a part in Gas Food & Lodging because the director asked him.
No surprise guitar guest spots with the Fog in Australia

if you don’t find what you are looking for, ask for itHey Spaceboy,
Too bad you couldn’t log on, I felt all alone Out There. I think there was only about 3 or 4 Mascis fans online, but hey at least he answered a lot of my questions.
Just remembered another question, someone asked him what he thought of napster, he replied with "anything that metallica doesn’t like I am for"….too cool.

aka madfortheracket on yahoo…god that was a very odd experience. I do a chat on a Chicago Bears fan site every sunday during the season but other than that only have done 1 other chat session with the singer from the Flaming Lips awhile back. Lots of people didn’t even know who J was….god.
Howdy
Hey Bates thanks for the information

Thats all I can remember,
Allison
hey Jasper, this probably isn’t the best time to reply to what you wrote I have had maybe a few too many glasses of whiskey and my typing skills have something to be desired. Still, as a recommendation from Bates, I read what you had to say and felt an extremely strong need to give some sort of reply. In fact I am shocked that this particular post didn’t recieve any replies before. I work as a freelance writer and I see nothing as valuable as the sincere, pure, unencumbered emotion of someone who has something to say. Obviously when you wrote what you did, you had somethig to say. Unfortunetly my mind is too numb right now to respond to it in any intelligent way, still it is important that you know how intelligent, and how extremely real and urgent your original post was.
hey reply to this if your still around, I have to tell you how much I blew it.
Hey spiderinthesnow,
Just wanted to let you know that I got the point, not a lot of people myself included are able to articulate in such depth what J’s music means to us. Not sure if you have checked out the whole board so I have a couple of posts for you to check out.
Under Songs/Albums check out Jaspers post Some Thoughts on where you been Dec/2000. Something he did for a lit class but very cool, think you would definitely appreciate it. Also by Jasper under Dino/J reviews scroll down to More Light One reporters opinions from Oct/2000. Articulates a lot of what I cannot express about why Mascis music is #1 for me. Also if you look under Open Topic & scroll down a bit theres a post by Bob about how you got into Dino/J, some pretty cool stuff there as well.
So hey good luck with your Quest, fingers crossed that we have some more tunes from Mascis later this year.
Allison
My favorite J. singles:
1. Get Me- the guitar at the end of the song is insane and the lyrics are sweet and sad
2. Thumb- The version on Green Mind, rather than the one on Martin and Me. Again, everyone who’s ever broken up with someone can relate to the lyrics and the drums and guitar are great
I love so many but those two are my favorites I think.
