glad to hear you’re going to be there too ray … anything to do with lard zep or beefy dc or are you just going out there to see the guys play ?
Just going to see some old pals play.
My flight is booked. So, I guess I’m leaving on a jet plane.
You know what, Cassani is wrong. I remembered a lot more than he gives me credit for. That’s it, Cassani is out of the band!!!!

1 August, 2004Just got back to Boston from Cape Cod. Did two huge shows down there at the beautiful Beachcomber, an old Lifeguard Station on the beach turned into a Seafood and Music Joint.
Friday night Beefy DC tore the roof off after The Other Girls and Sugabomb (all Boston bands) kicked fat asses. Massive turnout. Much sweat. Even more booze. And plenty of sex. Beefy DC had a good night!
Then Saturday, last night, The Rudds and The Count Me Outs warmed things up for Lard Zeppelin. They were both great!
Lard Zeppelin: J Mascis as John Bonham. Ray from Beefy plays a very, very fat clown of a Robert Plant. Tony Goddess played keyboards and acoustic guitar. Kurt from Gobblehoof played bass. I got to live the recurring adolescent dream of every american boy growing up in the 70s, being Jimmie Page in the mighty Led Zeppelin. Played the newly refurbished Cherry Sunburst Les Paul I was trying to sell for awhile. I’m glad nobody wanted to buy it. It sounded incredible. I don’t think I will ever sell it now.
Despite Ray forgetting most of the words, we had a great time jamming on No Quarter, Black Dog, Celebration Day and Heartbreaker. Hope to do it again. Depends on the availability of Mascis more than anything. Perhaps this Fall 2004 in Boston or Northampton. We’ll see.
I can’t remember the order of the songs, but here is the list. I’ll try to put them in order.
Immigrant Song
Dazed And Confused
Communication Breakdown
The Ocean
Misty Mountain Hop
D’yer Maker
Over The Hills
No Quarter
Heartbreaker
Dancin’ Days
Black Dog
Celebration DayI think that’s it. I’ve got pictures, but I don’t know how to post them. If someone sends me their email address, I’ll email them to you, and you can post them. My address is rneades@yahoo.com
Well, what a weekend it was. Lot’s of fun. I think I remembered at least 50% of the words. Pretty good considering we only practiced once at J’s house like a friggin’ month ago. But, for every fuck-up, there was a great moment. My wig being one of them. -Ray

Yea, for christsakes, how do you guys remember this stuff? It’s cool, but I pretty much forgot. It was fun to read that interview again.

The Northampton show was the better of the two. It was recorded. I haven’t heard it yet. When I do, I’ll give it to J to post or whatever.
Prolly just a one time thing. We’ll see. I don’t see any travel involved though. It was actually J’s idea. He loves Zeppelin especially John Bonham.
Thanks for showing uo last night you guys. We had a lot of fun playing. Yes, it is true I was a bit under prepared, but we only pracitced once, and it was over a month ago. Tonight will be better I swear. And it will be recorded. I would just like to say in my defence, that we all messed up a bit. It’s just harder for the singer to hide it. But it sure was fun. Al the guys are great musicians. J is a joy to rock with, and Pete, Dave , and Tony are great too. What did you think of my wig?
