The only place i can think of is Amazon.com where you can listen to some cool snippets of a few their songs.
The band are essentially a boyfriend/girlfriend duo (they don’t sound anything like the White Stripes) and there’s some really nice interplay between the male and female vocals. I decided to order the album anyway so i should get it later this week.
How about the Pixies version of Head On and Louie Louie by Black Flag?
Spacemen 3 – Playing With Fire
Sonic Youth – Confusion is Sex/Kill Yr Idols
El-P – Fantastic Damage
Love – Forever Changes
Sigur Ros – Agaetis ByrjunJavro, I don’t think anyone’s ever made any fuss over Gene or Shed 7.
The Strokes: Its quite amusing reading what bands the strokes are ripping off, its quite an list when you put them together. I’ve heard Blondie, the Ramones, the Stooges, Tom Petty??, the Velvet Underground, Television, Pixies and it seems that no one can prove or disprove anyone else’s theories. They have some nice tunes but their not the greatest band ever.
I blame the fucking NME. There always trying to find the next Oasis for some reason.
I always thought the Pixies version of Head On was better than the original. Much more energetic.
Yeah, the Kylie cover was quite unexpected to say the least. I actually think they played more like four or five songs off the new record including the new single. I’ve never seen them live before but it seemed like it was a good show for them. This guy in the audience got Wayne to ask this girl to marry him and she said yes so a good time was had by all.
Hard to pick one, so my favourites are:
Debaser
I’ve Been Tired
VelouriaNo worries. Internet explorer kind of messed up whilst i was posting it last time so i thought it hadn’t worked properly.
Well thats about as happy as Morrisey gets. There was a mini interview with him in Q a few months back, i think he’s living in LA. Probably living of the royalties of everyone covering Smiths songs.
How about:
Primal Scream – Movin On Up
My Bloody Valentine – Blown a Wish
Pixies – Head On
Flaming Lips – This Here Giraffe
The Smiths – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out
The Stone Roses – She Bangs a DrumI just saw them in the UK on Tuesday and they were very good. I just went out of curiosity really since i am into My Bloody Valentine and all that but i think i am going to buy some of their albums.
Result!
Thanks alot man, that’s the one.Knockin’ on Heaven Door – Bob Dylan
Love Will Tear Us Apart – Joy Division
Sometimes – My Bloody Valentine
Zurich is Stained – Pavement
Damaged – Primal Scream[ August 26, 2001 03:23 PM: Message mutated 1 time, lastly by Rooster ]
I already have a US Big Muff reissue and a Marshall Guv’nor 2. Its hard to explain what sound i want but my main problem with the big muff is that when you turn the tone knob down to get a smoother sound i find it gets too base-y (my amp could be resonsible for this) so i only use to get gritty fuzz.
I suppose i want something that will give me a smoother fuzz to than the big muff without the base. It says on Guitar Geek that Ira Kaplan from Yo La Tengo uses Rats live and if you listen to Sugarcube thats the sort of distorsion i want.
I suppose a 60s Deluxe reverb would be ideal but i think i would have a tough time finding one at a good price. What are the 60’s reissues like cause i don’t think i have the money to buy vintage.
Basically i want to know what would be the best amp to buy new. My current amp is a low end Marshall which wont be hard to beat.
