Oh, perfect. Thank you, kind sir.
Thanks. I don’t own a vinyl player, and I’m not about to get one for the purpose of a single 😛 Maybe the single will also be available for digital purchase or something.
Did anybody get that B-side by chance?
February 9, 2011 at 10:43 am in reply to: Second Free download from Several Shades of Why on Pitchfork “Is it Done” #138228This song speaks to me much more than the first one he dropped somehow. Liking it a lot.
It does sound eerily reminiscent of “Grab It”, but it’s not that detracting
Bearded look is confusing. Not necessarily bad, just seems confusing.
It partially worked, as I listened to the song. It didn’t quite work, as I heard very little Dino in it and won’t be coming back for more as I didn’t find it interesting in any other way either. Aww

You’s trollings. 1/10
Update – show was incredible. Lufthansa lost the guys’ gear, so they were playing on stuff quickly borrowed from the other participants of the festival, and the end result was quite good. J had a weird guitar that had a body that looked like a Jazzmaster to my untrained eye, but some "guitar expert" behind me kept saying that the neck looked like a telecaster. The tone was somewhat creamier and smoother than usual J, probably due to the lack of his usual stompboxes. The guys were on fire though – J woo’d a bunch, and even talked a bit to the crowd. Lou was ripping it like insane, energy through the roof. Murph put on a quality gig too obviously, it seems that whatever was up with him got sorted pretty well. Hope the gear will get tracked down quick… and that Poland left a good impression on you all, so we can see you all again soon enough

woo, I’ll see the original lineup on the seventh then

why replicate if you can be you too? search for your own fuzz tone win. check out devi ever… some win stuff there :]

some stuff that may interest you – the hyperion, and the vintage fuzz master. I’m using the us fuzz myself, but its rather specific and somewhat uncontrollable velcro squelch is pretty far removed from the huge sustaining fuzz you’d want for a mascis replica… knock around the site a bit, maybe you’ll find something there for you?
just in case you get tempted towards fuzz factories – I heard opinions that the vexter series has a cheaper circuit than the handpainted, not what the guy claims. just so that you’re warned…

it’s pretty safe to bet that J’s solo is improvised, so there’s no point attempting to grab it note for note. write your own, or improvise your own
you said you have a year – try recording one ammaring solo a day and coming up with the ultimate take based on what you have down (the david gilmour way of doing solos for records, and I say it’s pretty dam good – captures you soloing organically, not being all semi-calculated as you focus on writing it, and then you just glue the best of it together).also, be warned that J uses big muffs… but J uses old big muffs, and you’ll have to slowly get used to the fact that getting one of those is equivalent to coughing up a few hundred bucks on ebay. but, to add further problems, J uses effects other than the big muff too
I say – quit attempting to do a direct clone, and instead of doing a note-for-note Mascis "Ammaring" replica, do a Garcissistic "Ammaring" take with your own solo, your own tone…
J seems to be uber-happy nowadays with the woos and all. what more can we want?
got a gut feeling this will last a while longer -
