When It first came out, I picked it up at a local record store here (called Natural Sound in Albuquerque, NM) where upon me picking it out of the bin, I was instantly chatted up by this weird feminist girl who loved the fact a guy liked sleater kinney. I wanted to ask for a number… But she was a feminist, and I don’t understand that mindset.
SK never topped Dig Me Out,Call The Doctor, and All Hands On The Bad One for me.The Woods was ok but I don`t listen to it much.
"tonas " wrote:I never got into the replacements. Not sure why they always seemed a little too Americana for me. Maybe thats a bad description but they just never did anything for me. Other bands that I do like that I think are similar are Buffalo Tom, well thats really it. I could be way off to lumping those two bands in comparison like that. I always associate the replacements with Soul Assylum, I don’t know why but I don’t like them either. :-The `Mats are kinda of a love em/hate em band. Some folks would say they were just reved up Springsteen or something. The early stuff was more punky than the later ‘mature’ stuff.I think Tim is one of the best albums of the `80s;Paul`s slacker vocals seem to sound good to me plus they came up with some good tunes.
Buffalo Tom I like alot too.I know some did`nt care for some of their later stuff and that`s understandable cuz it`s more slicked up compared to the stuff J produced for them.
Soul Asylum I never cared much for.Pirner`s vocals are about as annoying as Billy Corgan.Horace Silver-Senor Blues
Starflyer 59-I Drive Alot
He did a soundtrack to an animated film awhile ago. Some movie about bears

I have 2 Replacements albums:Tim and Let It Be.Tim is a genuine classic

Allison`s daughter Tiffany sang backup on Get Me
