The name of the band was 18th dye, maybe in Germany you say dey;that album was called Tribute To A Bus,great album;love that band.
If Albinni said that about Kim he could be joking, just did`nt want to talk about the sessions with the Pixies;or he was being rude.
That woman who dated him who used to do a show here on the college station said very little about him,he seems to be a mystery when it comes to conveying what he means, just interprete it as you think.
Albinni once compared Courtney Love to Hitler.
He once had a fling with PJ Harvey which is not told much,Courtney said once that PJ`s album"To Bring You My Love",alot of tunes from that was about that fling with Albinni.

The cuddlecore name from what I understand came from a Vancouver musician in reference to Vancouver band Cub.The singer/bassist in Cub is married to the bassist from the Muffs.
Cub split years ago, they were in a Beathappening/K records mold, later stuff was a little more punky.
When Cub toured california someone there mentioned that cuddlecore was a term that was going around there.

The Archers always have alot of cool lyrics.
That line from Pavement`s "Gold Soundz" was a great choice Javro.

          Here`s some more from me:

Spinanes-Azure-"another season of cunning dipshits everwhere"

Shudder To Think-The Man Who Rolls
"There`s a coffin grate in a self enstated strewn up gated hovel"

Guided By Voices-I Am A Scientist
"I am a lost soul,I shoot myself with rock and roll; The hole I dig is bottomless but nothing else can set me free"

          Geraldine Fibbers-Dragon Lady
"kick em all in the family jewels,we`ll watch their guts enfold and we`ll rob a 7-11 and hit the road."
          -Dusted
"I still miss the smell of that dead skunk on the Pasadena freeway."

          Red Red Meat-Braindead
"Jody Foster John The Baptist not a waitress left in sight"

          -Chain Chain Chain
"Low flying jets skimmed your bed, temptation loses you again"

          Throwing Muses-Vicki`s box
"I only love pieces of things that I hate"
          -Hate My Way
"A boy was tangled in his bike forever,a girl was missing two fingers,Geri Ann was confused, Mr. Hubert,he had a gun in his head."

          Mary Lou Lord-?????
"Country is for bumpkins is all she said, she likes Smashing Pumpkins she`ll break one on your head"

          Buffalo Tom-Baby
"I`m hiding your lies and I`m digging "New Day Rising" "
          -Won`t Be Denied
"This city is not my own, this world is not my home."
          -Postcard
"where for art thou,Johnny Carson.Retired and never coming back"

          Tom Waits-Tango Till They`re Sore
"Make sure she`s all in calico, like the color of a doll, wave the flag on caddilac day and a skillet on the wall, cut me a switch or hold your breath until the sun goes down, write my name on the hood and send me off to another town."
          -Pony
"I lived on nothing but dreams and train smoke"

          Velvet Underground-Heroin
"All you jim jims in this town, everybody putting everyone else down, all the politicians making vicious sounds, all the dead bodies piled up in mounds."

I heard this story on the radio a few years ago.
The guy who told the story, his friends were recording an album with Albinni producing;Albinni had a party that night with a chicken dinner;the thing is the chickens were`nt dead!they had live chickens running around Albinni`s place!Albinni and some guys from other bands, one band being Six Finger Satillite chased the chickens around and cut off their heads! The most sick thing was when the lead singer/keyboardist from Six Finger Satillite took all the chicken heads and made a necklace out of them!dripping with blood and all!
You think Steve would have heard about chicken at a grocery store! But he is from Montana originally so I guess killing chickens is maybe normal to him.

              Hey dimpfelmoser:
The Albinni chicken story I`ll post at salami`s cool music picks.
Come On Pilgrim has 8 songs so I guess it`s close enough to an album, should have mentioned it.
Eggwater-Was the drummer on SB`s first record Walford or Ben Daughtrey?
I have some trivia about Walford;he played on the Breeders first album,Pod under the name Shannon Doughton.
Daughtrey played for a while with the Lemonheads.
Some guy at a music store said SB`s original drummer was Alexis Fleisig of Girls Against Boys,I don`t believe him,do you know anything about this?Fleisig is from DC I think, so it seems unlikely he was in SB.

Talulah Gosh are not too well known in north america,I know one of their tunes and I know they eventually became Heavenly.Their influence on twee pop/cuddlecore bands is quite great. The Talulah song I know is the one with the lyric"some of my best friends are bastards like you"what`s the name of that tune dimpfelmoser?
Slint`s influence on 90`s indie rock is great, alot of bands picked up on Slint`s sound, which was a reinterpretation of Sonic Youth and Big Black.
No one mentioned the Cocteau Twins?they pretty much invented the shoegazer stuff, bands like MBV added a more noisy approach than the Cocteaus, mixing SY and JAMC in there as well.
The MC5 and Stooges influence is wide to alot of bands, and VU deffinitely was also.
Alot of good bands mentioned there.

Yeah Eric`s Trip are great, best band in Canada next to Godspeed YBE.they`re very loud so watch out!Lead singer/guitarist Rick is a huge MC5 fan,he even did a tribute a few years ago called HC5;Drummer Mark is a big Ramones fan. They also love Sebadoh and of course Mr. Mascis.Alot of their tunes are classic Dinosaur sounding stuff, they also have a great alien abduction tune called"Spaceship Opening",which is a loud/fast punk tune.
Eggwater-teach em "Betray",great tune;is it just me or does Homer Simpson`s voice kind of sounds like Ian Mackaye?

I`m still have`nt formed a opinion on this album, some tracks are good and some need to grow on me a while.
Give me time to listen to it before I mention what I think of it.

You are`nt versed in jazz if you think Wynton Marsalis is trumpet king.
Spryo Gyro? I have one of their records,it`s down in the basement getting moldy like it deserves.
Sorry Jaron to diss stuff, you sound like you need some education in jazz;I`ll help you out if you want,I suggested 2 albums to Allison the other day;I`m pressed for time now but tommorow I`ll mention some stuff to check out.

                          Bob Mould-Sacrifice/Let there be peace
"Should I bend down and worship the ground of the beautiful people who live without flaws"

Forgot the name of this Mould tune-
"All the friends I had,I can count them all with one hand tied behind my back"

-Compositions for the young and old
"Once a handshake was a man`s word, now it settles arguments in court"

                          Husker Du-Indecision time
"Tell me about your fellow man,you wipe their shit all over your hands"

                          -Divide And Conquer
"I expect I won`t be heard, because my silence is assured"

                          -Real World
"I don`t practice what you preach and I won`t see through your eyes"

I must be in a Mould mood!

Alot of the battle between pop alt and indie is mainsteam vs underground culture.there`s so many pop alt fans because that`s all they know, the videos they see,the radio they listen to,they`re satisfied with the music so they see no point in listening to indie stuff, why would you want to listen to a band no one`s heard of?it`s a status quo thing, they want to listen to what thier friends like and what gets told to them what`s cool from mainstream vid and radio play and music stores displaying the next cool thing.
Indie fans usually heard the music from college radio, which seems to have changed over the years, indie rock has taken some harsh blows, the electronic scene for one,the early 90`s were such a rememberable time in indie rock then after awhile it lost some steam, the electronic revolution began and indie rock lost alot of fans.
It seems people are`nt adventurous enough for diffrent music,I think jazz drives people crazy more than punk/indie music does.
You never mentioned any jazz stuff Jaron, did you ever listen to any of it?,mention some stuff and I`ll talk about,it`ll be helpful to any one else here as well.

                              "Trains across the sea"
                              "Advice to the graduate"
"New Orleans"-love that lyric"there`s a house in new orleans, not the one you heard about I`m talking about another house."
lots of cool tunes on that.
Hey Jaron,DC Berman from the SJ is from Charlottesville,Virginia.

                              I forgot to mention another:
                              Versus-The Stars Are Insane

I was listening to them last night and remembered that debut.

                                NIN

If you like em Jaron,as well as Pumpkins and Radiohead, that`s ok;I`m critical of big alt-rock acts, that`s just me.
If you like NIN`s mega angst, try listening to Big Black or The Swans, they`re not as cheesy as Reznor.
Glad to hear your checking out Modest Mouse and Man Or Astroman, alot of people who listen to popular alt bands would`nt even bother trying to listen to indie bands,so you get cool points from me.
