Hey Allison:
There`s two Hellacopters videos at Rollingstone.com;"Soulseller"and"The Devil Stole The Beat From The Lord".Maybe you already know about them but I thought I`d mention it.
Jeremiah-The new Built To Spill I think will grow on you after awhile,I bought it the other day,I like the song that has the organ at the end, reminds me of John Cale`s playing with the Velvet Underground on "Sister Ray".I think The Lung lyric is"Nowhere to collaspse the lung(I`m still unsure of that)Breathes a doubt in everyone".

I don`t even want to hear blink cover freakscene,I`ll take your word on it Eggwater.
I`m sick of blink,it`s all you hear about, the music biz takes a band and rams it down your throat for years,it`s stupid;there`s thousands of other bands that are alot better and will never get any attention, all we get is the same band talked about and talked about.Hey Dimpfelmoser:
Cool that your sister knows Zorn, strange how we meet up with artists and get a chance to work with them.
Several years ago a woman at the local college radio station moved to Chicago, she came back for a visit and talked with someone else on their radio show, the guy asked her who she`s dating and she just laughed and did`nt want to say who, then she said"Steve Albinni".
I think she dated him for a few months at least, this woman also filmed one of Sebadoh`s videos.
I heard a story on this radio station about Albinni and a chicken dinner he had,if you want to hear about I`ll mention it.
ELJ-My cousin has a band, don`t know if there`s any mp3`s of them, you might like them if you liked that railer.I`ll go check and mention it if they do.Thanks again Spaceboy!
I think I downloaded the right Drunk, they sound like the Palace Brothers,so I think it`s the right band.
check out the Low live stuff I mentioned, the songs they did are"Sunflower","Medicine And Magazines","In Metal","Two Step".
Low are not as easy to get into as some other slow/sad bands but after awhile you realize they are one of the best.
Check out the Dirty Three, they also recorded with Low,they`re from Austrailia,no vocals just violin.guitar, and drums;the guitarist worked recently with Will Oldham.I think Epitonic.com has a mp3 by them.If you see any of their cd`s Ocean Songs is the one to buy;beautiful album, problably their best album. This is from CMJ magazine

Buzz words
"Math rock-although it has come to describe the indie rock decendents of Louisville Kentucky and like minded chicago breathen, the term originally referred to the kind of icy precise rock of bands like King Crimson. The form relies upon technically intricate time signatures and guitar playing, requiring an acumen beyond the reach of most three chord rockers.Richmond,Virginia has spawned its fair share of math rock bands, including Breadwinner and Confessor, but New york city`s Helmet and Pittsburgh`s Don Caballero also fit the bill."Is that counting band Unrest?the song is six layer cake if that`s the one your talking about.
I have a magazine that mentions Richmond having alot of math rock bands,I`ll look for it later and post what they say later.
Math rock is usually associated with 70`s bands like King Crimson(they`re touring with Tool, you hear about that?)it has come to be in indie rock circles bands like Don Cabbalero from Pittsburgh. There was this band from Richmond called Breadwinner, from the early 90`s,there is some mp3`s by them at mp3it.com,click on the browse section and scroll down. Thanks Spaceboy for mentioning Drunk,I checked out some mp3`s by them, they sound good.
Have you ever listened to Low?soon they are going to do some songs with Jason Molina. You can check them out at Yahoo.com in their archived concerts section, they do 4 songs live at Yahoo studios.Just checked Railer, sounds like my cousins band, not a good thing.
Thanks for mentioning it,Jaron.Someone else might like it.Modest Mouse`s Iassic Brock`s mom was a member of the white panthers. So now you can link the MC5 to Modest Mouse.
Sorry about saying that Love As Laughter was out of character for you, there`s a Love As Laughter video concert at HOB.com,so you might want to check that out.
The Hellacopters supershitty cd was $27.99 and Dissapointment blues was $16.99 here, missed out on getting them, maybe it will pop up again someday,I think I even saw a Hellacopters cd around at a used store, that was last year before I heard about them. That first lyric you mentioned is from the wagon,it`s the first song on green mind.

Still have`nt checked out the Hellacopters yet,my local music store had Dissapointment blues and supershitty, but someone bought them before I got a chance to get them!Saw another Hellacopters though,a split disc with another band, the price looks steep but I might consider checking it out.
Love As Laughter seemed to be out of your character Allison;but yesterday I checked out"I`m A Bee" and I can see why you like them, you see Sam Jayne from LAL was in Lync who I heard a couple of good songs by and I heard Built To Spill cover LAL`s"singing sores make perfect swords"which with the Lync stuff was indie rock sounding,I thought "I`m A bee" would be like that too,I was surprised that it sounded like Stooges/MC5 stuff!
Trivia:MC5`s manager John Sinclair was in the white panthers,60`s radical group, who`s current indie fav band`s mother was involved too with the white panthers? -
