Yeah,Beefheart`s trout mask is cool.I bought it last christmas,I was listening to it back in january when I had a real bad flu bug,like the kind of flu that sucks your energy and have crazyness running through your head;Trout mask is not the kind of record to listen to when your in this shape!It`s so wierd!My fav track is `orange claw hammer`,`china pig`is pure John Lee Hooker(R.I.P.) influence.I like that part at the end of `hair pie` when Zappa or Beefheart are talking to the couple that just moved in."what do you think","sounds good!"

Spaceboy-cool points for you for mentioning the 2nd Palace record;It`s usually refered to as "days in the wake" but it`s not written on the album at all!That will be on my list soon.I`d also like to suggest Kristen Hersh;she`s a big Minitemen fan so I`m sure she`d find it cool with Watt there.Also Sleater Kinney`s Corin Tucker would be cool.

I`ve had MuchMusic for 15 years and believe me it`s not as cool as you think.Sure,there is sometimes good stuff but most of the time it`s not worth watching;unless you like s club 7,brittney,n sync,backstreet boys or see blink 182 10 times a day.
When I was at my Grandparents a few years ago;they have a satellite dish and had MTV2.
On a sat. afternoon I saw videos by Shudder To Think,Stereolab,Wesley Willis,Unsane,etc.
in the evening I saw videos by Belly,My Bloody Valentine,Meat Puppets,Mercury Rev,etc. on a saturday on Much Music you would never see these artists except maybe late night.
Now i`m sure you think MTV2 is lame and I`m sure they play some lame videos too but from this canadian`s view-Much Music is not cool.
I did see the Frank Black interview a few weeks ago,that was cool,but overall,not cool.I like to say to John Dyson;good call on GBV`s
alien lanes,that`s my fav GBV album;everyone talks about B1000 being the best but it`s my 3rd fav(Vampire on Titus/Propeller is 2nd).The Pixies-Doolittle is my 2nd fav Pixies album(Surfer rosa is 1st);"new day rising"-we both have in common-that record I swear could make your eardrums explode!Here`s my 11-15:

I have my no.6-10 ready;this like my first 5 is in the punk/indie/alt genre;I will do separate lists for classic rock,jazz, and blues at a later time.I did`nt repeat the same artist twice;I picked my most fav album by a certain artist so Dino/J and Husker multiple albums wont take up so much of the list.I could easily put all of Dino/J albums in the top ten!Anyway here`s 6-10:

I don`t have the first album so I can`t rate it;I hope to get it someday.More light is J Mascis and the fog so I did`nt include it but I think i`d put it between hand it over and without a sound.Martin and me is J mascis but I`d put it between more light and without a sound.Black Flag`s `my war`;awesome tune!check out Good riddance`s cover of it on their 1999 album,i cant remember the name of it but it`s from 99,it`s the bonus track at the end that`s not listed.My fav Black Flag tune is `rise above`;I like to here J do both of these songs;since Mike `s wife was in Black Flag it`s even more cool.
I love J`s version of `Hickory wind` in the mp3`s.I think J should cover `free bird` by Skynyrd;since he covered `every mother`s son`I think J would be cool with it.`Free Bird`
has that kind of tempo J likes and the solo at the end would be cool for J to do.
