Just got the news from my brother. I’m shocked. I been in love with his music ever since I heard ‘Say Yes’ for the first time. Strange feeling when somebody dies who you only know through his music.
Elliott is definetly my favourite artist together with J. He could express emotion in a song in a way no other musician could.‘Killing time won’t stop this crying’
Olaf

John Lennon – How do you sleep? (about Paul McCartney: ‘A pretty face may last a year or two’)
Placebo – Without you I’m Nothing
Sonic Youth – EVOL (had to get some old SY after reading Our Band Could Be Your Life)
Everclear – Sparkle and FadeAND
Elliot Smith – S-T on Vinyl
The new Wilco documentary on DVD
But since both my brother and my best friend (known as jasper and Uncle Timmy on this beloved board
) had their birthdays yesterday I had to (oh, the heartache
) give them both away.Olaf
Happy birthday from me as well, dear friend. Hope to see you tonight, got a smashing gift for you.

I think we discussed it before, but he gave an explanation at the 3voor12 show in Deventer about that line and the whole song. Why didn’t you buy that explanation? I forgot.
I agree that in terms of beauty and emotion it might not be one of J’s best lines, but I don’t see anything being wrong with the thought behind it.Olaf
Why does everyone hate Eminem so much? He’s just a skillfull lyricist. That’s all.
Second the Shania Twain song(s). I hate her music so much. The first thing I’m gonna do when I get really rich (in a few years
) is buy every single piece of music she has ever made and burn it all. Her songs are so fucking bad. There should be some kind of law that forbids MTV to play her videos and if they do they’ll have to pay a fine of 100000000000000000000000000000000 thousand dollars……… per second. Seems reasonable right?Elliott Smith – Box containing Roman Candle, Elliott Smith and Either/Or

And you would think this would make my day and it would have if it hadn’t been for the most ignorant guy I have ever seen. He told me he didn’t know the cd’s so he just gave them to me and asked me to put them in the right cd-cases.

How come it’s always the most stupid people, who know shit about music, that work in recordstores? (ok, technically it’s not a recordstore because they sell clothes too, but that’s not the point) It really pisses me off I have to do shitty jobs to pay for my cd’s and he just stands there telling me he’s not able to match cds with cd-cases without the slightest hint of shame.
So now I have been able to put my frustrations on the internet for the whole world to read I can go to my room, listen to Elliott Smith, get depressed and watch some soccer. (Go Manchester!!!!
)Olaf
P.s. Timmy, I saw 4 song CD on vinyl
any good? The other day I heard something about Evan Dando recording a song with Liv Tyler, but I can’t find it anywhere on internet

Anyone got some more info???Olaf

dB, how is the new Nick Cave?
My WAS cd is black and it doesn’t have a dog on it. I’ve got the one with a bonus disc (Keeblin’).
It’s probably got something to do with the continents. Like the one with the dog is European and the white one is USA or something. Check the small print on the side of the disc. Mine says: Manufactured and distributed by Warner Music AustraliaIt’s a cool idea to upload some pictures of cd’s to compare. Too bad I can’t.
