I was never a fan of Blur, but If you’ve not checked out Graham Coxon’s solo material, do it now. In my opinion, Happiness in Magazines is definitely the best place to start.
Cool. As. F*ck.
I’d dismissed Guitar Hero before (thinking I’d be better spending the time practising the real guitar), but if it’s good enough for J…
Simon.
I’ve always heard ‘losing’, though I like the ‘Lou’s in’ theory…
Wow – it was excellent, as everyone has said above. If I remember correctly, the YLAOM tracks were followed by Builbs of Passion, Freakscene and Just Like Heaven. At that point, it was about 11.10 and I unfortunately had to leave to catch a train from Paddington at 11.35. I was a little annoyed to miss the last couple of tracks, but at least I saw YLAOM.
After Lose, J and Murph left the stage and Lou grabbed his Uke and sat on a stool. After the noise blast of the earlier tracks, you had to concentrate the hear the relative quiet Poledo. That would have been fine, except I was quite close the aforementioned "Lou Barlooooow! Sebadooooh!" wanker. Perhaps he thought he was giving Lou words of encouragement for his solo performance, but he really spoiled it. Anyway…. it was still good.
The quality of the YLAOM performance was excellent. I’m not sure how well it would have worked towards the beginning of the reunion tour, but J, Lou and Murph are playing extremely well together now and seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves.

Mascis and Friends sing and Chant for AMma album #110982I ordered it from Surefire a while ago and then got an email earlier this week explaining that demand has been way more that they expected and they’ve run out of stock. It says more are on the way and it will ship ASAP.
Looking forward to it.
Simon.June 22, 2005 at 9:38 am in reply to: Download Festival on Channel 4 tonight – DJr coverage? #110326Thanks Mike! I recorded it myself direct on a digital TV capture card with the intention of uploading it, but some nasty interference ruined it. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one! Thanks again!
Anybody know what J played/talked about on the show?
Great show. I managed to take a few crappy pictures on my camera phone, but they are absolutely dire. I hope someone can upload some decent ones. I saw numerous cameras and at least two camcorders in use. Somebody right in front of me recorded quite a few video clips on his digital camera.
It was good to have the flute feature of a couple of tracks. I’d seen that on those videos of that recent benefit gig in the US and was hoping they’d do it again – and they did! I was hoping they’d do Never Bought It (as they did before), but there was plenty of other stuff to make up for that omission. I especially liked it when a gallon of spit poured out the end of the flute – shows how hard she was playing!

Awesome! I just managed to order tickets via the link on the Bush Hall site. Why didn’t I think of trying that before???!?

I’ve just checked all the aforementioned links and it looks like the gig is sold out. Anybody know if there are still tickets left with a different agent?
Cheers,
Simon.…and they mention http://www.freakscene.net”>http://www.freakscene.net

I received my Waistin’ single from Glitterhouse today! It does include the third track, "See it as always", and I like it. It’s just under 2 mins long and at a pretty frantic tempo. About half way through a nicely fuzzy buzzsaw bass sound kicks in for 8 bars – I like that bit.
If you haven’t ordered it, do:-

http://www.ilmc.com/secure/ilmc/buddytape.htmlI just ordered the single from Glitterhouse (thanks sticksman79). It doesn’t say that it includes the third track, but it doesn’t say it doesn’t… I’ll let you know when it turns up.
Simon.
I looked on http://www.hmv.co.uk
If you search for ‘mascis fog’, you’ll see a CD single titled ‘Leaving On a Jetplane’. Unfortunately there is no track listing, but it definitely says ‘CDS’ as the format.
