I’ve played my CD – not my vinyl – it’s mastered loud. But it’s not ‘distorting’. It’s just loud

Or you can listen to it here too!

Dunno what an Airplane Blonde is – something to do with her carpet matching her curtains? Know what I mean……..

Mr Lars-Gefle – re: the original copy of Green Mind on vinyl – how much did you actually pay?
I have a copy, purchased on release, rather well thumbed and worn. Indeed one doesn’t see that many of these come up for auction these days…Ah the intricacies of the English language. Marvellous. If I may I’d like to add my tuppence to this debate. Bollocks is indeed slang for a mans testicles and can be used as has been suggested here in a few ways.
A disparaging term it can mean that something is ‘rubbish’ as in ‘that film was bollocks’ i.e. that film was not good. You can say that someone is ‘talking bollocks’, as in again in the sense that someone is talking nonsense. As has been suggested here you can literally kick someone in the bollocks – this is not good and is to be avoided. However one can also describe something as being ‘the dogs bollocks’ and here’s where it gets complicated….. The ‘dogs bollocks’ usually means something is good. Such as ‘that rather appetising fry up was the dogs bollocks’ (translation ‘that breakfast of fried food stuffs was rather good’). I’ve no idea why a canines testicles are good – but they seem to imply a certain finery or excellence.
So bollocks can be both good and bad. After hearing the new Bob Mould album one can only PRAY TO GOD that Husker Du reform…. Why Bob Why?!!
Seen so so many bad bands it’s not even funny….recently I’d say Reverend & The Makers were pretty awful (luckily I didn’t pay to see them). Likewise this dude called Peter Poehl supporting New Pornographers… terrible.
Going back many many many years into the dim and distant past… the Telescopes supporting the Cranes was pretty awful.
Agreed – Lou seems bemused by the crowds reaction though… Good 30 minute set . Highlights for me – Murph coming in a song too early with Just Like Heaven drum intro, nice Feel The Pain, Freak Scene (#1 in the NME December 1976 according to Lou! –
, a rocking Mountain Man, Back To Your Heart getting an airing oo. Crowd seem into it imo.
Thank you the BBC. You’re spoiling us with your publicly funded arts/culture and un-biased news reporting!
I don’t feel bad about not going to Reading now. Dinosaur were the only thing I wanted to see and I hate the damned festival scene these days. (adopts old codgers voice) In my day Dinosaur played on the main stage over Nirvana and 16 yr old kids had to get in with an adult! There was no TV coverage and you were lucky if you weren’t by an empty cider bottle full of piss. In fact getting warm piss thrown at you in a plastic Blackthorn cider bottle was compulsory!!Yes I bought it – but then I buy Mojo every month… J was talking about stopping Buffalo Tom from recording a cover of ‘Sway’ by the Stones.
There’s also a tiny piece in rubbish UK music magazine Q this month that features Dino/J – s’all about best guitarists of all time blah blah blah. Dude from Hold Steady recommends J. Great shot of Bug era Dinosaur Jr though with J putting his back into it.
Cover has a montage of Jack White, Jimmy Page and Johnny Marr I think. Can’t bring myself to buy Q though…August 23, 2007 at 1:29 am in reply to: New Dinosaur Jr 7" – ‘Crumble / Yer Son’ out now – anyo #131482I got mine in Londons fragrant West End.
Skatersonic2002 – did you really get it free with the album? That’s the free 7" that comes with the album isn’t it? This is a separate 7" release – where are you writing from. I apologise if you did and aren’t in the UK or something. But in the UK the free 7" which comes with the vinyl has I Got Lost/Lightning Bulb/What If I Knew and Yer Son on it.
This 7" is of Crumble and Yer Son.
Cheers
He used an Orange Cab at the London show at the Scala in June. He’s experimented with Hi Watt amps in the past too. How are they going down n front of a RHCP crowd?
April 30, 2007 at 3:40 pm in reply to: Been There All The Time – 7" – has no one bought it? + #128348Cool that folks are picking up the vinyl – but lets just clarify the ‘free’ 7" situation

The vinyl of Beyond is packaged with a 7" – it’s part of the album – and yes it’s got those 3 x songs on it – BUT floating around out there in indie record shop land is ANOTHER free 7" – it’s 1 sided, it’s got Almost Ready on it (which is on the album) and it’s packaged in with the album vinyl. Ok?April 29, 2007 at 8:28 am in reply to: Been There All The Time – 7" – has no one bought it? + #128345Glad folks are tracking these 7"s down – it’s what it’s all about innit?

The ‘free’ 1 sided Almost Ready 7" was just given out to shops by the distro folks – think shops can do what they want with them.I studied History in the School Of English and American Studies at the University of Sussex in Brighton between 1991-94. Got a pretty average 2:2 degree but the course was’t that great (but them I’m no Einstein either
. 50% of it was pretty badly taught though
Still I met with wife there and had a great time in Brighton for 4-5 years.
But then I haven’t used my degree directly in any shape or form in my current ‘career’. It almost knocked my general love of history out of me. I think I was better taught and learned more at school than at University. Studying for my A levels was harder then my degree course. Half the folks at my University seemed to be waiting for their pensions. Ho hum
The G – D – C bit of the Lung – I have to admit it may be my favourite bit of ‘guitar/music/Mascis’ whatever…. it just rocks so hard. I can even play it on my trusty Jazzmaster!
