I have to agree, the sound level was way to loud. Why bother having the music so loud that you require earplugs. That just makes the music all muffled. This was my fourth time seeing d.j./mascis and it was definitely the loudest by far. My ears hurt that evening, and the following day. There is just no need for that stupidity, your ears should not ring at all after a concert. Ringing = Damage. It was more comfortable when I moved to the very back of the club, but it was still too loud. Like the previous poster said, its hard to get into something that’s so loud that it’s causing pain and you’re worried about damage. I think d.j./mascis get so tied up in keeping to their image of LOUD, they take it too far.
Regarding Lou trying to stop the first song. He is a moron, I think it was because he was pissed about the curtain not opening and those balloons on his microphone. If you noticed he acted like a baby and ran around popping them. I have no respect for that guy.
Regarding J, I am growing tired of him. Nothing but a prick. No excitement with that guy, always acts so boring and uninterested. I remember seeing him at the State Theatre in Detroit many many years back, and I managed to ask him after the concert for an autograph. Obviously, unappreciative of his fans, he only put a lousy J, didn’t say a word, and acted like his normal cocky self.
Once again, like another poster said, its too bad that the last time I see them will go down in my books as the worst of the shows I have seen.
