Sonic Youth – ‘Cross The Breeze
Sonic Youth – ‘Cross The Breeze
June 1, 2006 at 4:51 pm in reply to: What was the first album/CD/45/casette you ever bought? #117837When I was about 4 I always listened to my mum’s copy of Nirvana nevermind and GnR appetite for destruction so when I started getting pocket money i went and bought Incesticide which was the first CD i ever bought. Nirvana ended up being my favorite band up until I was about 14 and the first vinyl I bought was a german 12" Smells Like Teen Spirit pic disc, after that I got hooked and spent all my money on rare vinyl by my favorite grunge bands. I love looking through the vinyl that i’ve bought, brings back good memories

I really like fenders in general but the jazzmasters and jaguars are my favorites, I like the gibson firebirds and I love my SG.
An Ibanez was my first decent guitar I bought and I’ve always liked them, I don’t like BC Rich’s though, too many ugly shapes and cheesy finishes
I figured out the main riff to Sleepy Silver Door but I havn’t actually tried a whole song or anything. I noticed the guitarist used a capo on a number of songs they played live. If you want that riff i’ll post it, it’s not hard to figure out though.
Hi Mike, I just listened to the show and the quality is awesome thanks alot! Wish there was a recording of the Manchester show but it seems you uploaded the Leeds Festival show too so big thanks for that one

Is soulseek better than limewire, the amount of shit on limewire really pissed me off so would you recommend soulseek instead?
Pretty lame review of the show, no pics either :-
I thought the lighting was cool, and the mix sounded excellent to me, can’t understand this review. J was moving around alot…. bending down to the floor all the time and when Lou was singing he was just going for it, it was amazing to watch
"rage:man " wrote:has anyone tried ‘Cats in a Bowl’Further up the page I gave it a little go, I couldn’t get any further with it, but I’ll give it another go at some point when I’ve got more time
I’ve had a go at Pointless and I thinks it’s pretty good, I’m still workin on the solo thing at the end, so I’ll post it when i’m happy with it. Let me know what you think on this one, and if there’s any corrections needed.

Thanks alot for posting that, don’t know what the reviewer is talking about sayin the secord encore was pointless
The crowd around me were cheering like hell for them to come back on, the pictures are cool though
I love listening to the first album but the songs are more powerful live with all the effects and J’s amazing extended solos. Mountain Man is probably my favorite dino song live because the solos are just insane and there’s so much energy in the song. I always find I listen to the live versions of bulbs and leper from the BBC Sessions more than the album versions, they sound so good.
I saw Dead Meadow last night and they were amazing, I think they’re better live than on CD, the wah solos were hypnotic…. i wished i had some weed when they started playin. I’ve only listened to the first album and they played my favorite song from it ‘Sleepy Silver Door’ last, and they dragged it on for about 10 minutes, it was awesome!
My god…. last night was one of the best in my life. They played does it float and mountain man near the end and they blew me away. The raisans sludgefeast combo was awesome too, heres the set

Just Like HeavenThis was the best show i’ve ever seen, I was stood in front of J the whole time and it was amazing to see him soloing up close. I’ve taken quite a few photos which i’ll post once i get my brother’s camera.
After the show finished I saw Kevin packing up all the gear so I shouted him and he gave me one of J’s used pic’s a broken drumstick and on of lou’s picks, I love that guy

Then after buying a couple of t-shirts i went round the back of the venue to see if I could catch the band, so me and my brother waited there for about 20 minutes and I saw Dan Mapp? the tour manager and asked him if i could get YLAOM signed and he ended up giving me and my brother back stage passes to go meet the band…. I will ever be in debt to that man!
We went in and I saw J and Lou and when I got J’s signature I couldn’t think of anything to say cos i was so nervous so i just sed that was the best show ever then he just sed thanks alot…. and that was it
I talked to Lou for a bit… he was much easier to approach and he sed they would definetly be coming back to england again and that the album was going really slow. I thanked him for screaming so much on Does It Float and he was really nice. Unforuntatley I didn’t get to meet Murph but it still was the greatest night ever for me.BeenInsane: The shirts were ?15 and they had the purple monster shirt, the white dinosaur shirt, black j lou and murph shirt, and the blue zombie worm shirt. They were also selling the first 3 re-issues, J and friends chant for Amma and Lou’s solo album…. the Cds were ?10, Enjoy the show tonight!!
