Whatever happened to that ‘By The Fire’ track? Did they just decide to scrap it?
John Fahey – Days Gone By
I can’t express how much I love this album.
"SG " wrote:For Fahey:The Yellow Princess is another good one though more produced than the home recording sound of Days Have Gone By.The Great San Bernadino Birthday Party caught my ear as well.
The Dirty Three really peaked on Horse Stories and Ocean Songs.Whatever You Love You Are is a good one too.
Found this great peformance of Red:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw3GIWWiKjU Aw3GIWWiKjU
Good find SG. Thanks, I’ll definetly check them all out.
Slint – London Aug 22nd Koko, playing Spiderland
Sonic Youth – London Aug 31st, playing Daydream NationI’m so fucking excited, 2 of my favorite records. I’d still trade both of them to have seen YLAOM though

Great call on the John Fahey album, not all of his stuff is to my taste but I loved that one. You know others to recommend? I’m gonna get the rest of the dirty three’s stuff if it’s anywhere near as good as Horse Stories.

I’ve got Pleasure Ground by Prurient, it’s pretty amazing.
Earth – Earth 2
Dirty Three – Horse Stories
John Fahey – Best of (59-77)Wow awesome pic, where did you dig that up? Is J having stomach problems

Sorry about the late reply for this, I got really frustrated with that lead. I didn’t get very far with it because of a couple of parts which sound to blurry, for the most part it’s easy to figure out though. I’ll give it another go when I get some time
Almost Ready

Too bad chris cornell is a cunt, I’d love to see a Soundgarden re-union. I always thought I’d love to see Rage but I really don’t care about them anymore, they just sound boring to me.
Annastefka, here’s a pretty basic page telling you how to read them:

I have personally heard bands I would not have heard otherwise and PURCHASED albums I would not have had I not downloaded something from the band. I have bought shirts, concert tickets and more from bands I would have no heard otherwise. And I’m willing to believe I’m not some special one-of-a-kind human being, so your statement is rather invalid.I am one of those human beings you speak of. If I hadn’t downloaded YLAOM there’s no way I would even be here on the forum discussing this. I had heard Feel The Pain years before and thought it was lame so there was no way I would have bought a Dinosaur Jr album but discovering YLAOM changed my life. I bought the CD about a week later and then later when I saw them in Manchester I spent £65 on merch. To me it’s more a case of borrowing the music, and as said before if I like it I’ll go on to buy everything if not I give it back by deleting it. Obviously not all people are like me but whatever thats my opinion.
Yeh I really like the chord progression in the song, it’s really fun to play.
and yeh I was gonna do Almost Ready next, awesome song. Should have time to figure it out tomorrow

yeh there are some great points there sfbarker. If it weren’t for soulseek there’s no way I would have been able to check out half the bands I listen to now simply because I don’t have the money to buy hundreds of CDs. I’m sure artists would rather people listen to their music for free than never even know about it. I always buy the CDs of bands that I’ve already checked out that way I don’t waste any of my money on stuff I don’t like. It’s a good system for me and saves me selling off CDs I don’t like on ebay anymore.
I couldn’t believe that some of Bardo Pond work as carpenters, they’re one of my favorite bands yet they still have real jobs too.
"SG " wrote:My fave from Lift Yr Skinny Fists… is that one that starts with the guy talking about Coney IslandYeh I love that. I burnt a dvd for my sister the other day and I had that track playing on the menu screen, it freaked her out

Mogwai – Ten Rapid
Slowdive – Catch The Breeze"andyfest " wrote:I’ve only heard the songs on the myspace page but I have to say I’m loving Almost Ready because it sounds like old school Dino. Been There All The Time is good but a little too Fog for me. I feel like J has a formula he’s been using a lot with his Fog material and this song (and "This is All I Came To Do") fits that formula. It’s not necessarily a bad formula, I was just hoping he’d branch out a little with the new Dino record.I think you’re right, I could see alot of the songs being on a fog record but I kind of expected that after I heard This is all I Came to do. I would love to hear a weird song where they experimented more, like Pointless but that’ll never happen. Still overall it’s better than I thought it would be.
I’m looking forward to getting the real CD because the sound is not amazing but it’s good enough for me to start tabbing some of the songs out.
