Wow, yeah that’s definitely up there for me as well as is the Bug lineup mentioned. If I may take the discussion to later Dino work, I’ve always be partial to the Out There > Start Choppin’ > What Else is New combo. I think Out There is the perfect opening track. Any time I put together a Dino mix that includes that song, it goes first. I also think Start Choppin’ is a great second track and follows Out There perfectly. As for What Else is New, that’s just my favorite song of all time so it wraps up this trio quite nicely for me.
Oh yeah, I left out Keep The Glove which I’d love to hear. I knew there were some from the first album I missed but couldn’t think of which ones. Thanks, arleach.
Love it…

Good to hear you’ll get to see them. I was fortunate enough to see them twice over the summer. Awesome shows. The set list will be all from the first three albums. Some like to complain about this but they were the albums with Lou and it really wouldn’t be fair to him to play later stuff. There have been rumors that they’ll play The Wagon at some point but I wouldn’t count on it.
Anything from the first three albums is fair game but I’d say don’t expect:
-Poledo
-Lose
-Pond Song
-Let it Ride
-Don’t (Though they apparently did play this once)
-They Always ComeThere may be a few others they shy away from but these are the ones that come to my head.
Yeah, I thought the same thing but it’s at least some news about it. Maybe these shows are going to help fill in the gaps or something. Like, since they never played Pond Song on this tour, they play it now so it can be on the DVD? I doubt it, though.
From punkbands.org:
Dinosaur Jr. have been touring complete with the original lineup of J. Mascis, Emmett Jefferson Murphy III and Lou Barlow. The band recently announced plans to record and produce their first ever live DVD. They will film their upcoming two night performance at the Irving Plaza in New York City, currently scheduled for December 2nd and 3rd.
The DVD will be directed by Gold In Berlin, which is run by Mascis’ own brother in-law, German filmmaker Phillip Virus. As well as the live performance, the producers promise "complete backstage footage, one-on-one interviews, behind the scenes goings-on." The DVD itself will also include a number of bonus features.
The band reunited with a first set of dates which took place in the UK this past June, followed by the recent US dates. The band has a handful of shows coming up in the next few months which are listed below.
11.29.05 Metro Chicago, IL
11.30.95 Metro Chicago, IL
12.02.05 Irving Plaza New York, NY

I always think of Duane Allman as being great for slide guitar. I can see the comparison but I’m not sure it’s "dead ringer." I’ll need to pull out my Allman Bros records and give a listen again though. I’ve always heard people say Dino / J has a "country" sound to them so maybe this is where it comes from. Personally, I’ve never heard much country in their songs.
Oh how I wish those Chicago dates were on a weekend…
I don’t know of a good site for them but in years past I’ve come across Dino lyrics that are way off. I’ve decided that if I need them the best thing to do is just try to figure them out myself. If I got stumped, I’d throw out the lyrics on here and see if Freak Scene could figure them out or at least give me their take.

Unfortunately, Murph is still saying that in interviews. There are a few threads along this topic on here so if you look long enough you’ll find the discussions. What I know right now is that Lou has some post-Dino tour dates of his own set up and it sounds like J has new material he’s working on. If I had to guess, I’d say the boys are going to go their separate ways for now and if they ever feel like doing something together again at least now they can find the others approachable.
A little harsh but not overly so. Sounds like the writer still found the show good overall, just questioning the motives of the reunion. I wish I could see 10 more shows on this tour…
"Carl. " wrote:The PA could have been set up better, since if you get close to the stage, you can not hear the vocals. In fact, Lou said TWICE, that if you want to hear the vocals you would have to move back. I was in section two, and Lou’s vocals were darn near impossible to make out. J’s were okay, not great. (Yeah, I could have moved back, but chose not to).Same thing in Kentucky. People in the front kept complaining about not being able to hear vocals apparently and Lou explained where they PA speakers were and how if you were behind them you would not be able to hear the vocals as well.
