I was standing on the second teir and some idiot flicked his cigarette down into the people below. I wonder if your friend was burned by that… Anyway, he proceeded to work his way down and get in a fight with someone before he and his buddy got thrown out by the bouncers.
I agree that they didn’t play enough from Bug. Didn’t even play No Bones or The Post which surprised me. I got to see those in Boston though so it didn’t really bother me.
Too bad to hear the Madison is getting closed down. I didn’t really like the lay-out but it seems they get decent bands and we need more venues like that in this area of the country. Covington seems rather run down overall to me. A lot of vacant shots and storefronts.

GREAT SHOW!
I completely agree. I think the sound was much better than in Boston but they may have been because I was standing further back from the stage or something. Great show, Lou was especially talkative probably because his extended family was there somewhere.
I think I enjoyed this one better than Boston because they were able to play longer. I found the layout of the club to be annoying though.
I haven’t heard it but I’m pretty sure it’s just J’s way of contributing to Amma and that group. It’s not like a typical "new release" or something. I wouldn’t worry that everything he records from now on is going to be this way.

It’s not just you. I like the Fog but don’t think it’s quite as strong as Dino for some reason. Close, but not quite there.
Starting next year we’ll actually be on Daylight savings for the first time in 30 years. I think in April we’ll roll back (forward?) the clock just like the rest of the country. I’ve never done it before, it’s going to be weird! Anyway, we finally passed something that will allow us to be on Eastern time (I think) from now on.
If we can get there early enough I’ll try to show up. I’m guessing we’ll get in town right about show time though. Indiana is an hour behind Covington and I have about a 2 hour drive to get there.
They are playing songs that are 20 years old and a lot of stuff J’s been playing since the 80s. No band is going to keep playing the same songs with the same passion forever. Maybe if they had new stuff to play it would be different
. I personally don’t think it sounds any less passionate then it did in the early years but I didn’t go to any shows back then, I’m just basing that on recordings I’ve heard. As long as they keep making music in general, I don’t really care if it’s together as a band or separately as solo artists or with other bands. I just love J and Lou’s music so much, I’ll take it anyway I can get it. I’d be excited for new material if they wanted to try it but I’m not counting on it and won’t be disappointed if they don’t record anything new.

Hmm….I disagree but respect the opinion. I think Bakesale is Sebadoh’s best but I still enjoy WaS more.

I think I’d want ‘Out There’, ‘Freak Scene’, or ‘Feel the Pain.’ They just seem the most like ringtones to me.

"kily007" wrote:Why, any reason?I don’t mind, but I’d like to hear The Wagon, Out There, Start Choppin, Feel the PAin, I dont Think So
Lou wasn’t in the band after the first three so in fairness to him, they’re sticking to old material. I read Lou say somewhere that he’d be willing to play ‘Feel the Pain’ if they also played one of his songs.

I liked Sebadoh quite a bit and liked some Folk Implosion stuff, too. None of it stacks up to anything Dino put out though in my opinion. You’re absolutely right about Without a Sound, great songs on a great album.
