Carl,
You’re not at all pathetic. I wish I’d thought of that. 50 days is too long….
The last two Sebadoh albums weren’t as good as their previous stuff but they had some good songs. I’m looking forward to Folk Implosion being a ‘real’ band though.
I saw a Sinitroh (I’m sure I butchered the spelling) Album in the record store the other day that had a 2002 copyrite on it. Does anyone know if that’s a new Lou Barlow album or just a re-release of old stuff? I almost picked it up but couldn’t remember the names of the songs on the Sinitroh album I already have. Anyway, I liked Sebadoh a lot and am sorry to see them go. Is the Folk Implosion going to do stuff still? Their last album was really good.
August 6, 2002 at 12:50 pm in reply to: Ultimatum will be releasing the new J. & The Fog record #55233Ok, I just put in my order for ‘Free So Free’. It says it arrives on the street date and it better or I’m going to find myself with two copies like I did with ‘More Light’. If it’s not in the mailbox on October 8, it’s going to take everything I have to not run out and buy it. I did not have the patience with ‘More Light’ I doubt I’ll have the patience this time either.
Thanks for the tips on the smilies <img> . I’m actually going to see Promise Ring tonight in Cleveland. They’re opening for Jimmy Eat World out there. I’ve never heard them, are they any good?
Thanks for the welcome. I agree, we should prevent putting our beloved Dinosaur Jr. in the emo category. They belong in a category all their own. I’m a little new to this, how do you get those crazy smilely faces in your posts?
Thanks for the description of Emo. That is the first time I’ve heard decent explination of the genre. To relate this topic to this site, would Dino/J be considered "emo"?
I saw part of that Jenny Jones show my Junior Year in college which would have been about a year and a half after ‘Hand it Over’ was released. It may have been a rerun though. I’m pretty sure that is the album they were supporting at the time. From what I heard, it was just jamming and not really any particular song. I didn’t see the whole episode though so I could be wrong.
Yeah, I think Emo is the most pathetic excuse to try to categorize a type of music in years. I’ve always heard that Jimmy Eat World was emo and the Get Up Kids. I love both bands but to me they’re just power-pop. I’ve heard emo defined as "emotional rock". I guess that puts anyone who has ever written a love song in that category. As for drunk people, I hate being around them for the most part. More than that, I hate being one of them but every now and then I have one drink too many.

I saw J + the Fog twice on this last tour so obviously those shows (especially Chicago) would be #1. Other than that, The Old 97’s here in Indianapolis at a place called Birdy’s. They are one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen! They are currently touring w/Matchbox Twenty and Train which is a shame. They are of the Alt-country genre.
I also saw Radiohead in Chicago last week, enough said.
