Yes, Yes, J and the Fog A sort of southern fog, you might say, Schools and Spence are both Athens.
BTW My good friend Livia is going to be with her family in England for 2 weeks, June 6- 21, and she is looking for someone to live at her house and feed and water the animals, only 1 dog, 1 cat, 1 hermit crab (he,he so cute) and a rabbit. She has enlisted my help in finding a housesitter. If anyone wants to spend a few weeks in Athens in a older farmhouse 10 mins. from downtown let me know.
Flying Cloud If you could clue up the cash it would be worth it. Spring is beautiful here and I am at home all day taking a break from teaching other children and just working with my own. If you come from Europe you have to stay a few weeks. We make lots of free time for going to the river (15 mins. away) and Islands (just a few hours away) Before I had children I would hop on a plane just for the fun of it. I know some of my friends were wondering so I will let you know, my little chicks will be staying with another homeschool family on that night.
Most of you may know this but as a Mother I feel I should help those out that don’t. While 28 bucks is not alot of money to spend on a shirt, i t is important that if you do have tee-shirts that you are fond of that you wash them in COLD water and HANG THEM TO DRY. NEVER put a tee-shirt like this in a dryer!!!!! Dryers kill tee-shirts. I have a WMMS , Cleveland is the rock and roll capital of the world tee-shirt that is 23 years old and still looks good. If the shirt is really dirty then wash it in COLD TWICE!! That will make that 28 bucks go a long way. By the way I notice J can make a tee-shirt go a long way. Like that purple one. He has a very utilitarian approach to clothing that a lot of us can appreciate.

J MASCIS The inscrutable
leader of indie hero trio Dinosaur Jr. is a powerhouse in independent rock today, having influenced bands not even old enough to remember him. Mascis has worked with Bob Pollard, Mike Watt and Athens’ own Elf Power: According to sources, Mascis has spent the past few weeks here in town with Widespread Panic’s Dave Schools. The two have been writing songs and establishing their own mutual appreciation society. After Mascis performs solo expect Schools to sit in for a set.Dave did not sit in for a set but stood next to my husband and I (next to the stage) for the whole show. Dave ( a bigger guy) rescued J from feeding frenzied fans who were grabbing and pulling on him as he tried to leave the club. The Caledonia does not have a backstage area it just has a stage and you come and go through one of two doors that is used by the public. So it leaves us to guess are they WRITING songs together? This union is perfect for my husband and I. I have always been a J fan and when I met him he had no idea who J was and when he heard me play some he said "I don’t like it" He on the other hand was all about The Grateful Dead and it is really true I could not name ONE song by them. I thought the Grateful Dead was another name for the Rainbow family. Don’t ask how I missed knowing the Greatful Dead until I met my husband, I just did. When we both moved to Athens he would run into some of the Widespread guys and always introduce us (I think they had the same hemp connection also) but that is just my thinking. My husband and Dave are always hugging when they meet and they look a little alike. At J’s show in January Juan asked Dave if he had been working with J and he said something like "I have been out of town for a few weeks and just got back" So is it true that J ( as the paper said ) spent a few weeks in town? Or was it true as Jerimiah said in an earlier post that J arrived in town on the day of the 26th? leaves us alot to wonder about?
Hey I’m back, what exciting news!! I must say I do feel guilty as I take on a sort of universal sadness for all of ya’ll who are waiting to see J play, some have waited years
and here we are in Athens 3 months later. I wanted to respond to Flying Cloud and say that perhaps George is not busy with other projects, perhaps J wanted just to do something a little different. As I posted elsewhere J is going through a saturn transit and will experience the need to move on so to speak. I do love George, he has the most etherial look on his face when drumming. During the course of the night his look will move from etherial to lovable retard. When his mouth hangs open and his eyes sort of half close. Then out of nowhere a big smile comes over him as if he is on another planet having an amusing conversation with someone else while an alien has taken over and is drumming for him. Well, I will miss that. Oh, by the way J may be writing some new songs with Dave Schools, let me go find that article and I will post it.Help, Coma Girl, someone, this posted twice, I just hit once, how do I edit whole thing? Okay, guys, I am having a little bit of trouble keeping my lent promise not to come here. My husband did not give up freak scene for lent so I get all of the news. I have to get through just this week .
I just wanted to say, Kyle Spence is the drummer for the Tom Collins Band, I just saw him for the first time in January when they opened for J. I turned to a group of friends from Atlanta and said "That guy is great, what a drummer, I mean how old is he 17" and friend said I think he is mid 20’s. Okay, this kid looks so highschool, but plays so wild, a very different drummer.I need to go do some penitence now, and after lent I have a few things to say to Mr. Does this mean the honeymoon is over.
