I found an interesting review of the show here: http://www.avclub.com/dc/articles/dinosaur-jr-at-930-club,33899/”>http://www.avclub.com/dc/articles/dinos … lub,33899/

it has little tid-bits like: Beyond didn’t play like desperate cash-grab or retread; rather it ranked amongst the band’s best. (It shouldn’t have been surprising, then, that its follow-up, the recently released Farm, is just as good—if not better—than its predecessor.

I would have to say…I agree.

the tempo changes were like sharp turns with no one at the wheel,
again…I agree…..there are still some tempo issues…I think…I’m trying to put my finger on where that is coming from….my new idea is…Murph has either had way too much coffee…is on crystal meth or he has a new work philosophy and that is "if I can just play all these songs really, really fast….then it will all be over and I can go out and get "crunk" and perhaps with some luck get laid." I’m just thinking…I’m not sure.

After sporadically mimicking the unintelligible gibberish and requests hurled by the crowd, he remarked, “I always forget how still D.C. audiences are." Bad move, dude: If the resulting blitz of Sebadoh insults within earshot was any indication, D.C. crowds don’t like being told that it’s their job to stroke the egos of those on stage by jumping around like idiots during the performance.

I would have to say,Umm, I’m doing a little whistle right now, while looking straight up into the ceiling.

Yes, SG, the Blues night was cool, I shot video and unfortunately some of the teen’s got to my camera and decided I filled up the memory card with a bunch of bull….and they needed that space to shoot videos of themselves, uh, playing with food and opening up glow sticks with the fire of a candle and pouring the glowing goop all over the out door furniture. I told them all, I am so not letting them near the camera again or talking to them for two days….
so instead of the "boring music" as the kids called it…I now have …hundreds (I’m not kidding) of shots like this:

Tubby, I just spilled the same feelings out over under Dinosaur/J opinions.
My last entry under the astrology/ NPR/Lou/ thing.
Oh, hey Robert, you jumped in while I was typing.
Oh, no and our Polish friend is back after I was sort of "bitchin" at him for drinking so much.
I thought I could trash talk and then run.

Man, I’m going to be PISSED if they play a set like that in Chicago. I’ve been dying to hear Farm material, and there’s precious little on that list. Hope that was just a one-off fluke of a setlist, because I know that Plans and I Don’t Wanna Go There and I Want You to Know have been in regular rotation this tour.

I just remember you using the phrase "deep-six" for Feel the Pain…..it keeps coming up for air.

Yeah I think I read that somewhere  ….SG, you got the joke, it’s hard to know with computer type.

I never followed Lou’s music either but I have seen him play once before…..I just thought I would listen in the other night and that’s how this started. I’m still scratching my head over a few things but "ragging on the paying customers", suggesting that they are complacent, rubs me the wrong way. I’m almost 45 years old…I don’t want to move around a lot….I just want to listen to some music. I’m turning into my Mother, I don’t want to stay up until midnight to hear music, I don’t want drunk folks spilling their rum and cokes into my shoes. If I’m shucking out 25 or 30 bucks to see someone play music…I would rather hear "Thank You" than "Y’all suck" any day. You know I adore and am obsessed with J Mascis and he and the rest of his "act" are going to be in Atlanta in just a few days……..and I just don’t even care….if I had a therapist they would have to agree, I’ve made a lot of progress…I am sure. I would love to see "the guys" have a little more passion about what they are doing….the songs from Farm are sounding good and tight but I’m struggling to feel any sort of passion about playing music anymore when I listen to them. I saw some great music last night, we have an annual Blues party out in Ila, Ga. A lot of the old and some of the new blues guys get together, most of them play together or have played together in the past all over the South. Some of the guys brought their children and some of their children are now playing music…man these guys are still passionate about music. All night long, musicians rotated on and off the stage, they let the children come up and play with them on some songs. One little guy about 11 years old, came up to play drums and he said "I only know how to do this" and he played a little beat, but "I want to learn more"….and one of the old guys said "Hey, just do it, we will work with it baby….AND THEY DID…SO CUTE! Everybody was playing together….it was not perfect but it was passionate and fun and lively. So we were all "getting into it"
I still think the analogy of sex is perfect….when folks play music together it is an interesting combination of energies, it’s very sexual to me, there is flow….there is give and take…there is taking the time to listen and feel what direction things are going in…there is eye contact to compensate for a moment where one musician may have been sort of lost in their own thing and they are ready to look up and connect. When the musicians last night looked into the eyes of another musician they were looking at a "friend", a "brother" a fellow artist who had probably sacrificed a lot of a "normal" life for the life of an artist, of a musician. There were smiles…lots of smiling, lots of laughter when the music got "hot…or good"….there was laughter when things got "over the top". The music felt "good and alive"…Hello…this is when an audience gets into it…
I understand that when we get older we have to suddenly be passionate about paying the mortgage, passionate about keeping the utilities on, passionate about our children’s education, the responsibility of generating an income can suck the passion out of us…yada, yada…I understand that but at least….find the fun in it. There is a big difference between making love and just wishing it would hurry up and be over. There is a good porn reference I can make here, if your gonna do it well and making porn is your thing and it is your "paying thing", then you got to "really" (meaning for real) get into it or learn to "fake it" big time, because if your not into it…or at least not making a real effort to get into it, than a big bunch of those watching it aren’t gonna be into it either. I’m just saying. That’s exactly what I felt when I saw the band in Athens back in "I don’t remember" ….December? I was listening to the music…and I’m the biggest fan so you know I’m going to like it….and I just got the feeling…."Wow, these guys aren’t real friends, I don’t even think they have any sort of appreciation of each other"…….and that made me feel sad. That’s not to say that folks who feel that way about each other can’t make good music together…it’s all about where you put your passion or intentions…..I don’t know where the passion (or intention) of the band Dinosaur JR is right now …..but I do know when I try and look at it, to find it….I have to turn my head…..it’s just too awkward for me to look at for long.

Uhh, I had to edit…I read over it again…and I think I am 45…not almost….I had to like go into my mind and put up my left hand and count…you know, starting at my thumb, 64,74,84,94…oh, um, I forgot that I had a birthday. My kids are correct, I’m starting to have little blank spots in my thinking, they have noticed it, I say "oven" for "fridge," walk into a room and can’t remember why….Oh, God, help me….if I live to be 70 something….

oddly enough, I talk to the wind is playing right now on auto shuffle…..cosmic giggle in order.
We finished with De La Soul and now player on auto shuffle.

I guess you didn’t hear Lou’s set from the other night? I’m still waiting for someone to tell me what I missed did something go terribly wrong in the middle and I missed it? Just wondering?

Moonchild sounds nicer than "Cancer" or "Crab" or "Moonbaby" to me….

yes, he drugged and raped a 13 year old, in fact his victim and I are the same age, and I know I grew up a little sheltered but…at 13 I knew where babies came from but I had no idea of ejaculation or semen, I didn’t know that was a part of the whole sex thing until I was like 15 or 16. She had to address those issues in court, that’s horrible, and he turned to sodomy when the girl told him she didn’t remember when she had had her last period. geez, Roman Polanski…nice guy.

Not to blame the victim either but why isn’t anyone asking "Where was the Mother in all of this? Can you imagine, for instance any of us here at Freakscene with teen aged daughters letting a 44 year old guy pick up your 13 year old daughter to go and do anything. We all like to think that men have self control and most do but I grew up with only sisters, it wasn’t until I met my husband (who grew up with 5 brothers) that I learned how automatic the sex response is…how overwhelmingly automatic.

Regarding just about anything and everything I have ever posted to Freakscene…this is the song that describes my life…not just now but from about the age of 3…Peace, Y’all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v88ekktZW0Q v88ekktZW0Q

(it’s pure imagination with cool animation that shows a head being opened up)

I need to go over to "open topic" under the the thread "song that describes your life right now" or something like that and put this 10/43 there as well.

Can I just say Roman Polanski…my children have been asking me "So what happened Mama"….Uhhhhhh,….hmmm.

That said…I really did find the tart and pesto on the porch.

My neighbors left a pumpkin tart and a jar of homemade pesto on my front porch this morning (after I posted). I took one look at the tart and thought…"I picked a bad week to stop sugar" I’ll think about it again next week.

Did I say Lou? I did not, I said blank……. I’m crying that’s all I’m saying right now, I need a tissue. I think we need to go ahead and move on very quickly from this.
