the first time I heard "Do not feed the Oyster" I hated it. with a passion. NOw I think it’s okay. Weird how that happens. I recently bought Pig Lib, the new throwing muses, and the new crooked fingers but somehow instead of listening to them I keep putting on other stuff I had for years.

Saw Frank Black last night, Amazing! I got there halfway through David Loverings thing because of weather and ticket problems but everything was basically the same as as what the other guy just posted. The show was very high energy and Frank is definetly not over the hill yet, like a washed up prize fighter that still has a lot of punch. I think as a songwriter he is almost untouchable. Set list: (slightly out of order, should have brought my mini-disc)

        Gouge Away
        Freedom Rock
        Cactus
        I want rock and roll
        crackity jones
        hermaphroditos is my name
        cold heart of stone
        where is my mind?
        california bound
        bullet
        Jane, the Queen of love
        (unknown, countrified song)
        (IT’s a beautiful day????)
        Robert Onion
        Sir Rockabye
        Headache
        (Manitoba)
        Holiday Song
        MOnkey gone to heaven
        mr. grieves
        Nimrod’s son
        dirty olde towne (pogues)
        wisky in your shoes
        los angeles
        six-sixty-six
        all my ghosts

I’ve heard stories of Frank being grumpy or not appreciating his audience but I found that to be absolutely not the case. Maybe it’s because he was so well received. Saskatoon isn’t jaded because we don’t get legends legends like him too often. I also heard that some people found his shows to be a total bore but maybe he pepped things up a bit lately now that he started playing Pixies songs. Very high energy, sweating, yelling, shit yeah!

David Lovering signed all of my pixies cd liners and I waited for Frank at the stage. He signed all 15 of my CD Liners! Without hestitation, I said "you don’t have to sign them all, you worked hard and now you’re carrying your own stuff" he said "as long as long as you bought them all" and I said "well some were second hand" He seems like a really nice and genuine guy. The only regret is not bringing a camera or my mini-disc.

FRANK BLACK CONCERT TOMMOROW!!! Hooray for me!

This topic wasn’t meant to be angry, as in girls are mentally ill.

              I hear ya, Carl

If us guys ever give out subtexty signals it’s always "I want you" or "I hate you". But girls give out all kinds of "read between the lines stuff" that is impossible to detect or interpret.

                I never tried very hard
                then I tried and failed
so now I’m not going to try very hard again
                for awhile

we’ll see how things go this weekend, maybe I’ll have a story.

so what does everyone think about "Pig Lib"? I’m not sure if I like it. I have to listen to it some more

here’s how I figured it out
with sed you don’t have to use / as delims for substittute you can use anything – for example

as for how to set a variable to the results of a command put

                    var1=`command`

need to use the ` things

I got the program but it sounds crappy. Is there any program that recrods digitally from the stream rather than from the sound card. I know I found one about 2 years ago but they stopped doing it due to legal stuff I think it started with a V, if only I could remember the name.

If not any hints on making it sound better?

This is great. I’m excited to know there is SST period Dinosaur stuff that we haven’t heard. I hope the guys making the reissues know about this. Maybe someone should drop them a line.

I hope nobody heard this song and said "cool, Dinosaur doing Bowie"

yeah, I was in c shell and that’s why it did that, I did the thing now and it solved it.
Now I have to figure out how to run sed on shell variables

I Disagree I think the review was cute and had some heart. except for the part of depicting J as a junkie. Chris Ott is the guy that wrote the thing for YLAOM as one of the tops of the 80s and I think he obviously is familiar with all of the dinosaur jr albums.

The review could be hazardous to anyone who doesn’t know that it’s all a joke.

Or wasn’t he going out with Hilken Mancini (from fuzzy and punk rock aerobics) never did find that out.

I feel like such a teeny bopper.

wilco, flaming lips, j, doug martsch, sparta, SY, ugly casanova, weezer, mike johnson, foo fighters, treble charger, neil young, silkworm.

those are all I bought this year that range from okay to excellent to haven’t listen to enough to decide.

I also bought the trail of dead cd because of the hype and word of mouth. very unimpressed. it’s decent but not groundbreaking in any way.

probably a lot of other great stuff out this year but i don’t keeping up with new stuff or ‘hip’ stuff as much as I thought I did.

so DC is like vatican city. The pope has his own little country so that god doesn’t favor one country.
