I’m glad that it’s on a label with some well hyped acts like The Fiery Furnances and The Black Keys. I wonder why they didn’t go with Merge, maybe they’re too strickly indie rock or they would get lost in the promotion for the new Arcade Fire.
Which songs are Lou’s?
I agree that the song titles sound great

Yeah Silkworm are a big fave of mine too.Firewater is one of the greatest records there is.
definetly in my top twenty albums ever. that’s the one I always come back to (and Developer). So many quotable lines from Andy
"SG " wrote:I was refering to his songs on Silkworm`s Libertine and In The West.Stuff like Oh How They Laughed.I have`nt heard any of his solo stuff.i avoided his solo stuff for years too because i didn’t think his material was as good as tim or andy’s but it seems like all three of them improved as songwriters by leaps and bounds once they parted. This is an old topic but I’ve listened to Phelp’s records more than twice a week since. Strange thing with Silkworm too, I listen to them more every year since I discovered them. they grow on you like a weed. So yeah, Joel’s solo stuff is better than his silkworm stuff (singing and songwriting)by a magnitude of 10. i recommend Blackbird to start with.

I really doubt it if we don’t hear anything about it in a few weeks. But it would make sense to release it ASAP given that it is to celebrate the reunion tour
damn i wish that was translatable, it actually appears to be one of the more interesting J interviews as there is insight about the cover art, his mom and dad, etc…
anyone want to pitch in and hire a professional translator
with WAS J was moving towards this mature pastoral pop sound (some say Boring…, but to me it sounds like he put more time into the lyrics on that one) but then Hand it Over was kind of goofy in comparison, a lot more fun. I’m insane, never bought it, mick, i know yr insane, getting rough, and gotta know are all gold in my book. I think the only week track is Loaded but that has some cool guitar sounds at least. I think J uses the falsetto voice a little too much on that album, so maybe that’s what’s turning our boy here off?
that being said, i like to speculate where J’s sound would have evolved to if the fan and critical reception to Without a Sound would have been better. Maybe he’d be making albums like Neil Young’s Prarie Wind now?
this guy knows nothing about history and he lost me with
"and that it’s on Vagrant Records also bode well in my opinion."
I wonder who is doing the second verse lyrics on Tarpit. It might be Bill Priddle.
How come no one has talked about the Olmpic island show the next day? I wonder what the set list was
Wow, Bill Priddle on guitar!!! I’m a huge fan, I’ve been wondering what happened to him since he got axed from Treble Charger. He basically got fired for sticking to his indie roots while the rest of the band started making pop punk for kids.
I thought the song was about an amusement park ride "the flying cloud" where the seats are shaped like clouds.
Wow, someone serioudly needs to go to this and record it. BSS are probably my favourite live band. I’d love to hear them flesh out the Dino classics.
I’m sure it’s Lou.
Lee actually sings the first verse. I don’t think we hear until the bridge, then j and lee do the last verse together. as memory serves

I thought that line was "Stunned" but there are many other "stoned" lyrics like in tell the truth – "I feel able when I’m stoned"
I think J was straight edge for many year but he started drinking and smoking again at one point.
