The American reissues have been available for 4 years and there was a Japanese run before that. I only saw J. play Jazzmasters at Saturday’s Spaceland show, but, if a Jaguar is what you want: http://www.fender.com/products/search.p … 0100900800
I have both reissues and I rarely play my Jag. The shorter scale necissitates heavy gauge strings to avoid fret buzz and the pick-ups are tinnier/trebley sounding. I keep the jag around for recording to break up an album’s tonality.Spaceland’s show was amazing! They played for about an hour and fifteen minutes (including two encores). They might have played longer but Murph kept signalling to J that he was too tired to keep going.
I checked J.’s set-up and almost all his pedals are placed in his rack (out my view) and contolled by a multi-footswitch board. One pedal on the floor in addition to the amp’s channel switch was a H.B.E. Germania: http://www.homebrewelectronics.com
I was drinking and having a great time so I didn’t write down the set-list, the only notable exception was they didn’t play " Little Furry Things". As much as we all know that this was kind of a "the Pixies are making tons of cash, so why don’t we…" it was still great to see them together and genuinely looking (J. kept trying to conceal his smiles when he looked over at Lou) like they were having a great time playing together.
for J’s effects chain, check out: http://www.guitargeek.com/rigview/223/
I’m so f’in psyched for Spaceland Saturday night!
