Whoa! Jeff just got out-‘dinked’ by Lou!
That’s awesome!I organized a big private party earlier this year and booked J as the entertainment. I’ve always been a fan – but had never met him before.
After spending some time with him, I’d say he’s just a really a down-to-earth, nice guy. Obviously he’s pretty quiet, and easier to hang out with one-on-one than in a crowd, but personally he’s just very pleasant.
I met Lou after the Cleveland show. He’s also a class act. He just played this amazing concert and all he talked about afterwards was his baby daughter and his new responsibilities. Really a great guy – not pretentious or fake in the slightest.
I met Murph breifly as well – He seemed cool enough.
Not only is Dinosaur Jr a great band – but they also seem like great people. Why others feel the need to post insults towards them on their official message board is really beyond me.

Lou tried to stop the first song? What was the deal there?

This is pretty funny. I had never really heard much Pavement but had heard good things about them. They came to Cleveland in 94′ I think – and I decided to check them out. At this point, moshing was probably at it’s most annoying.
After tolerating an hour of a lousy opening act, Pavement hit the stage and started off with a slow, melancholy number – to which the crowd began slam dancing like crazy – as if they were listening to a completely different show or something.
Midway through their 2nd song, someone ‘surfing the crowd’ fell on the back of my head and slammed my face against the monitor on the front of the stage. I was knocked out cold, and was eventually woken up by Pavement’s bassist asking me if I was okay.
I spent the rest of the night in the back of the club with a cup of ice on my face. I wound up never really getting in to Pavement.[/quote]
There were a couple minor technical gliches last night. J’s guitar cut out a few times and a crew member had to crawl out and help him mess with his foot pedals. It didn’t phase J, though. Imagine that.
Fellow Clevelander’s; Ante Up Audio on E36th hosted a private party in March featuring J solo. There are pics and mp3s available at anteupaudio.com.
The band was incredible last night … I knew they’d be good but I wasn’t expecting them to be THAT good. Holy crap!
Aside from Dinosaur’s remarkable performance – didn’t anyone else see Tim Parnin from Cobra Verde get clobbered with that tambourine?!!! Towards the end of their set, the lead singer tossed his tambourine up so it almost hit the ceiling. It arched and then came down right square on the guitar player’s head! It was one of the funniest damn things I’ve ever seen!
Got to go backstage afterwards. Very cool. J, Lou and Murph seemed to be getting along just fine. It’s great to have them back.
