Can’t remember what song you are referring to, but the show was so great…
I saw the Spaceland show that opened the reunion tours, and man the difference is astounding. J has dropped weight, Murph can keep up and Lou has gone bona fide rock star. It was almost as good as the old days…
How about that version of The Lung? Quite a bit tighter than the Ferguson show…..
Here’s a link to some shots from the show my wife captured. Enjoy!http://www.flickr.com/photos/carradine65/”>http://www.flickr.com/photos/carradine65/
You’re Livin’ All Over Me is definitely my fave. I bought it when it came out on SST (I still have it–without the Jr on the cover), and instantly realized they were the coolest band on the planet.
Side One was one of those experiences that changes your life forever. I knew I had found something I could relate to. Bug is a close second, and I saw them on tour for Bug, but I love Livin’ because it rocks so hard and really made me fall for the boys.
Every Dino album is great, I think, but Livin’ defines their greatness in terms of passionate songs with those killer solos. Sludgy production, out there lyrics, and it all made me happy to be a misfit electric guitar loving freak. Unforgettable!
Hey, my new profile pic is from the show last night!
Oh, for what it’s worth, I forgot to mention that we were standing beside Jack Black at the Spaceland show. Beats hanging out with Ben Affleck, I guess. I wonder if Allison Anders was there?
Mike,
Nice snag on the setlist! I wrote the songs down, and the list is accurate, only slightly out of order, as you said.
They played "In a Jar" after "Swan." "Yeah We Know" was before "Lung" and "Severed Lips" was before "Heaven."
One of the great shows of a lifetime, truly! It was so friggin’ hot in there I wasn’t sure if Murph was going to make it. He’s gonna need to get used to playing again, and maybe cut out the beer swillin".

Did you think it was odd that they started "Severed Lips" before Lou got his bass back together? I’m not sure if that was a little rude or not.
All in all a great show and J was very animated, like I have not seen him be in years. He totally attacked the guitar with great vigor.
In all the recent Fog shows, J never said a thing to the crowd. He thanked us several times, and even came out joking, "How did you guys like the Supreme Dicks?" (They were the opening act and they were BAD).
I saw the original lineup in Portland, OR when Bug came out, and although I will never forget that show, this one had a better spirit. They were at the end of their run then, and there was anxiety amongst them. They seem very into this.
The songs were so great!
Everyone go see them while it lasts!
Dean the Mad Taper has taped many shows there before. I’d say give it a try, but be prepared to act cool and give it up if push comes to shove.
This is going to be a great show! Can’t believe how awesome the song The Lung was on TV last night!

The band was awesome! I haven’t J so animated in years. The guitar work was sloppy great! So cool.
I wonder if Barlow is really into it. Murph looked resigned behind the skins, but Barlow was smirking and slightly indifferent. His knee drop at the end was forced.
J was on fire! I see him every time he comes to LA, and he has not seemed so energized in years. Perhaps this will be inspiration for more great songs!

I saw the show at the House of Blues LA last night, and am so happy I caught it! J seemed more energized than he had the last few times through town. The band was loud and very rocking. They opened with a blistering "The Lung" and did not let up throughout the night. Personal faves were "Little Fury Things,""Everybody Lets Me Down,""Same Day,""Ammaring," and the best version of "Alone" I’ve witnessed.
I love J to death, but at times he can seem ambivalent about playing. Last night he was fully into it, loud, like the old Dino days, and very inspired. You have to miss Watt on bass, but this may be the best Fog line up yet.
House of Blues actually has great sound, and it came through strong. -
