According to Big Hassle Media, J also appears on the 34 Satellite "Stop" CD:
"After passing through his share of basement bands and moving to Colorado, Benning formed 34 Satellite, This group released four Hideaway Records discs: Stars (1998). Radar (2000), Stop (2002), and the E.P. Parachutes in Avalon (also 2002). The last two of these included guitar work by J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. and drumming by Jim MacPhereson ex-Breeders/Guided by Voices."

I have been using FTP Commander and it is great!

from Hideaway Records website:
"Carrier are joined by friends J Mascis, Kliph Scurlock (Flaming Lips) and Jim McPherson (Breeders, GBV) on the album."Maybe he did play on the Carrier CD as well as the 34 Satellite EP.
I’ve been looking for that 34 Satellite EP for a while now with no luck.
I emailed Hideaway Records to purchase this Carrier CD, but they never responded.
?
Hopefully the store will be open soon, and both will be available.

Thanks Robert. I have never seen the FSF listed as 180. Guess I was hoping they would do it since they did ML. I wonder if all the euro pressings of ML are 180? Does anyone have the City Slang press of ML that is not 180?
I have never seen ANY Japanese Dino vinyl.
180 gram is thicker and heavier so it is more flat and will not warp as easy so it will play better. Also when the vinyl is thicker, the grooves can be cut deeper so you get better sound and less skips. 180-200 gram vinyl is the greatest!!! Another important factor is the source they use. That’s why the MFSL pressings were always the best. I am also very impressed by the Simply Vinyl reissues! Some of the best vinyl I have ever seen. Anyone who has any probably knows what I mean. I wish they would do some of the Dino jr LPs.
The only Dino I know on heavy wax is ML and the BBC.
September 17, 2004 at 9:11 pm in reply to: Pink tounged DOG!!! the cd art to Without A Sound #104968These are the things an obsessive collector like myself are always looking for! Here is what I have:
1) US pressing with the dog pic (pink tongue)
2) UK pressing – white disc with text
3) Aus pressing (Keeblin) – black disc with text
4) Jap pressing – black disc with text
5) Chinese pressing (I think it’s a boot) – same as the front cover (chipmonk)
6) advance promo – silver with textNow I’ll have to find the dog with a clear tongue! And maybe the Canadian version that Coma Girl mentioned.

It’s been a couple years since I’ve checked out the FTP’s. I’ve been trying to access them for a few weeks now, but can’t seem to. Is all the info current? Any help would be appreciated.

They call J’s track a demo, but who knows? Apparently a free CD given away at a tribute show.
from Two Sheds Music:"In related news: Jet by Day lead macho man David Matysiak has been furiously working on a tribute record to the late Black Lips guitarist Ben Eberbaugh. So far, he has had no trouble securing tracks from Breakheart Beat, Rump Posse, The Carbonas, The Lids and The El Caminos. Of particular interest is a track by Some Soviet Station (listen up, you Paper Lions fanaticos!) which is apparently the last unreleased track by the band. There’s also a demo track from(!) J Mascis & The Fog. This record will be distributed for free at a tribute show to Eberbaugh which is as yet unscheduled."

Pavement- "Black Out"
Afghan Whigs- "Black Love"
Kiss- "Black Diamond"
An original Sister CD just sold on ebay for $3.50!! Of course I paid 10 times that.

It depends on if the seller knows it’s rare.
Took this from the Sonic Youth site:
"Its original cover was immediately controversial — a bright, almost out of place photograph of a girl by Richard Avedon in the upper left corner was removed after Avedon threatened to sue. Initially they just placed black stickers over the jacket art, and blacked it out completely on subsequent pressings."

There was also an issue with the Disney picture. Check it all out here:

Hard to believe she has never been identified. Especially since the book is so rare ($300.00 used) and her photo now sells for $1200.00!! Wonder how much or even if J had to pay to use it for the cover?
When I first read that she was unidentified, Sonic Youth "Sister" and TAD "8-Way Santa" come to mind.
Wouldn’t it be cool if we could find her? I guess she’d be around 40 now?Maybe Rambleon is right and it is just a good story!
"Aatos" wrote:Which year was that photo taken? Girl with the cigarret. The book came out in 1978??? Definitely looks 70’s.
