adam
OUT………
I always thought it was Bonham that got him into drumming…then he’s been influenced by different parties as the years have gone by…later stuff is obviously more influenced by The Zombies, Beach Boys and various folksters and the recordings have that BIG Phil Spector sound (especially the drums).
(I chose Hardcore by the way – that’s what captured Deep Wound’s imagination)

Of that list It’d be Slint or Minor Threat (drove to work with that on in car this morning – can’t wait for the drive home – Damaged by Black Flag on B-side of tape – time to tear up that traffic – in 2 mins in fact …but you missed Double Nickels on the Dime by the Minutemen which is undoubtably my all time fav above any Dinosaur even.

I have those EPs yeah….all on Vinyl of course…
I don’t have Ecstasy and Wine though that’s rare on vinyl…it’s not very good though. They’re very first LP’s not too good either…I got them off Napster…the songs are good but they’re so badly produced…no dynamics…Isn’t Anything is a great partner to Yr Living all over me…they could meld together and have some kid vinyls of indie rock w/ effects pedals…
sorry for being a bit surreal…it’s been a long day at work and there’s still an hour left.

MBV – you need – You Made me Realise 12"/Isn’t Anything LP/Loveless LP/Glider EP/Feed Me with your KIss EP.
Pale saints – First album "Comforts of Madness" is great, their follow up "In Ribbons" has it’s moments though is arguably a bit indulgent. Not heard the third but remember that the guy (Ian) who sang had left, though they proclaimed a love for Slint which was kinda interesting.
Also just bought 2 Salbutamol asthma relievers…ahhhhhhh! Those drugs are fantastic.
OUT………..
I just bought…
1 Mediteranean Calzone
1 Minestrone soup
1 bottle of mineral water
1 local newspaperRock n Roll huh?!
Everyone Loves you of course.
I just bought
Greenriver by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Earthspan by The Incredible String Band
Rush by Rushall on vinyl…I don’t take to CDs…I only got a CD player last year…2 decades too late. Last CD I bought was a Canned Heat best of about a month ago…it was only £2.99.
new Stereolab 12" has just been released…must purchase ASAP (it’s limited, as usual)
‘member riding pinion on a stolen scooter as a kid aged 10…thought it was pretty fast compared to my BMX. Don’t tell my Mom…actually were chased by the park ranger in his jeep…quite a little anecdote for a minor.
I really don’t like that Vapors tune…though I did get your wit…very amusing…unlike my toilet humour.
Thanx – Beavis
July 30, 2001 at 1:07 pm in reply to: TOP TEN FROM THE FREE JAZZ UNDERGROUND – by Thurston Moore #64261That was originally in Grand Royal (issue no. 2) – the Beastie Boys Magazine – Issue one and two were awesome…hilarious.
I’m sure of it (I will check it when I get home from work)…I think he was working the PA and must’ve recorded directly to tape from here…I think the sounds bad ‘cos the grooves on the vinyl are super tight ‘cos it’s over 60 mins long…
Sister is my favorite SY LP.
I think SY and Albini were acquaintences…I think it’s a kind of mutual bit of fun on both sides for any pisstaking that goes on…I think Albini was the sound guy on that live album it was recorded in Chicago (Hold That Tiger), and Pussy Galore are on the cover…I own it.
There’s a Thurston tour diary where he goes on about Albini beating up some bouncers with ‘arms like whale dongs’ (very funny).
I don’t think SY were happy that Albini called a Rapeman track ‘Kim Gordons Panties’ which might be were the friendship went kind of sour…though I think Rapeman actually toured with Sonic Youth which was when they played the UK and there were feminist protests.
I need to check these facts…they were all on Blast First (dinosaur, sy, rapeman, big black)
