oops I guess you didn’t like me goin’ on about my Hoegaarden weekend then?!
It is the cloudy piss of the gods…good stuff…certainly is…
though it messes you up…I’m still hungover from Saturday night.
Had to ring a woman about a new job earlier…had to sound perky and enthusiastic when the truth was I felt like shit…
ah well, got an interview so I got me fingers crossed.
might well be a RESEARCH JOURNALIST soon…so will have no need to be mod.
I am actually all three…not fond of the gas part though…rather pungent as I’ve drank a lot of Hoegaarden this weekend.
If I was mod I think I’d just be solid…’cos I’d have a crew cut.
Slint -Tweez
all the tiles are named after parents and pets of the band…fucking genius.
Talulah Gosh – avoid
love that "cuddlecore" fucking wicked – word of the day without a doubt.
I never saw the Sonic Youth influence in Slint…maybe the use of harmonics…Big Black though yeah definitely…though Mr. Albini’d be embarrased to say so…considering his love for Slint…Big Black are fairly influential…as are Shellac…the use of repetition should not be underestimated.
Meat Puppets were a big influence on Dinosaur.
I missed out Squirrel Bait – Squirrel Bait, the best debut by a bunch of school kids ever…out Huskerin’ the Huskers…and they nearly all went on to greater things – David Grubbs (Bastro, Gastr Del Sol), Brian McMahon, Britt Walford (Slint, King Kong, The For Carnation).
Dimpfelmoser like yr choices.
I would also say…
1. Slint (see Codeine, Tortoise, Mogwai, Rodan amongst many others).
2. Television (punk rock could be played by musos)
3. Velvet Underground
4. Half Japanese invented lo-fi
5. Neu and Can et al invented Stereolab – not MBV – though MBV would be in my list too.
6. Beefheart said you could play what you like, and the Minutemen took that ethic on board.
7. Minutemen are truly an inspiration.
8. The debt to Minor Threat must not be underestimated.
9. Wire
10. Neil Young
11. Creedence Clearwater Revival
12. Leonard Cohen invented miserable Indie.
13. Pavement were more influential than successful.shit I could go on forever.
Minor Threat had two seven inches, which were then packaged as a 12"and then they released Out of Step. I realise that Out of Step could be classed as an EP though it has got about 8 tracks on and is over 25 mins long…The Punchline by Minutemen is shorter than this and is classed as their 1st LP mit even runs at 45 RPM. I like to think of Out of Step as an LP so thats why it’s a great debut LP in my eyes.
We’ve got band practice tonight I might teach my friends Betray.
Tweez by Slint
Tortoise by Tortoise
Weed Forestin’ – Sebadoh
Out of Step – Minor Threat
Black Sabbath – s/t
Punch Line – Minutemen
And you will know us by the trail of Dead – s/t

Blink 182 absolutely butcher Freak Scene. I got that off Napster too, it’s bloody rubbish…soz mate but you shouldn’t cover a song if you can’t do it justice…they use the wrong chords and the solo is dreadful.
do you think he committed crimes against hairstyles and this was his punishment.
*from a different era of neon all in one jump suits*
so has this put Stump off filming or does he do Snowboard vids these days?
how?
*the ghoul in me needs to know*
Out There was shot by Greg Stump who was big in Ski films with that guy with the ‘crazy’ mohican (Glen Plake?!).
wonder what he does now?
No one’s named any of the revellers yet?!
* also why are those ski areas now defunct (global warming??)
I like this thread does anyone care?
I like that interview.
very refreshing.
