      Cool thanks.

What I dont get, is the sound at the end of the lung. Is it phaser + trem or flanger + trem?

well i figured out on the record its just the clone theory(muff and his electric mistress near the end possibly set to the filter matrix* to give it more of a metalicly sound) with the switch on top to chor/vib at the knob to vib counter clockwise full blast and the rate and depth at 2 o clock as far as they will go clock wise it gives it that great robotic sound
later i think j uses the choppy setting on his super tremolo live
well…. i noticed he even uses his tremolo on the wagon live too
it didnt sound as nice i thought
      but thats just me

a flanger, echo, and tons of fuzz pedals can help make a good wall of "sound" oh yes and maxing out your amps
i love how flangers sound its like a fucking space ship taking off :alien: and when you hit it with fuzz my god its like the end of the world
echo delay pedals are nice for solos it makes everything flow easier for me anyways

yah cds compared to vinyl records sound really thin
              and cold
anolog sounds so much better to my ears
but i do like the convinence of cds and mp3s but it just doesnt have that warm milkyness of a record
              and that really disappoints me

while i personally like the feel of nitro, the thinner less gloopy finish, it’s not just low end guitars- it’s pretty much any fender guitar that isn’t explicity ‘vintage reissue.’ my late 80s american standard telecaster, a fine guitar, has a poly finish. nitro is more accurate to the old stuff of course, but the influence on sound is very debatable … (there was a time when everyone stripped down their guitars of ANY paint, and guess what, tones didn’t magically improve overnight.)

oh yes your right i forgot about that
you do see alot of old guitars with finishes almost all worn off
                  and still sounds amazing
                  like
                  svr’s #1 or rorys strat
but alot of it has to do with how talented the guitarist is too
a person can have a 10 thousand dollar guitar and still sound like crap
or have a cheap guitar and sound like god!

J said he wanted to get it as close to a 59′ as he could. I’m not sure how the pick ups stack up to the old ones, and the old ones weren’t made out of basswood, but I think the rest of it is pretty darn close, down to the finish. Thanks for the info eyeadrift! :)

yah no prob i think i study guitars way too much
something as close and as affordable i have to hand it to j
yah some of the early 57 protypes and early 58s were made of ash
not alder like the later ones
                    which i thought was interesting

well thinking about it poly isnt all too bad
its a harder finish so it doesnt scratch or dent as easily as nitro
and the satin finish im guessing is sapose to feel like a "worn in" neck

yah im surprised dinosaur doesnt get sposured by some ear plug company
seriously id buy from a company that made purple plugs
or have someone outside their shows selling plugs i bet theyd make good money

Nevermind. It isn’t produced in white, grey or silver. Purple ::)

What’s the difference between a nitro finish and a poly finish?

during the begining-thru late 60sfender used nitrocellulose lacquer (or nitro as its nickname) on there guitars
later they used polyurethane(or poly)(alittle bit after leo sold to cbs) cause they thought it was the "future"
poly is still used today by fender and other companies on cheaper models (japan)
also nitro takes alot longer to cure(months)
                        as poly takes only weeks
hense takes less time to make and more guitars can be produced and shipped out
                        and poly is cheaper priced

and theres also alot of controversy with poly
                        people
saying it doesnt let the wood "breathe" like nitro does
so the wood doesnt resonate as well as it could
                        killing some of the sustain

poly feels like plastic to me
im glad j did have then put a satin finish on the back of the neck so it feels like wood

                        anyways theirs my 2 cents

*editors note* during that time nitro was used on the manufacturing of auto paints (also to cut costs by fender)so thats why oild fenders have the same paint codes as old cars

No, not disappointing. I think it’s just cool for J’s to have another in the collection. The sig looks kinda like a lasso there. I was telling a friend about this guitar on ICQ earlier, and how it would be cool if it were silver or grey, and he mentioned that the only history lesson he took with him on his travels was the tall tale of Pecos Bill. He could never pay attention to the rest of history, because he was always studying the dinosaurs on the back of a classmate’s shirt.

oh i dunno i was just hoping it would be a nitro finish not a poly
but i still think im gonna buy one thou

                            yah no prob
                            kinda disappointing huh
yep its his sig but thats how all the artist series are im pretty sure its a copy of js sig
but its placed in a strange spot and kinda large
most ive seen are in the front (or back) at the top of the of the neck
well most of the strat one anyways….

still its a killer looking guitar
