New albums on April 25th:
Ben Folds Five – Songs For Silverman
Go-Betweens – Oceans ApartOut on June 6th:
White Stripes – Get Behind Me Satancool, I didn’t know what Luisa’s brother is doing. I just remember that J, Watt and George went to his house near Berlin when the Fog was on tour in 2000:
Quote:then it’s a drive out to the ‘burbs for philip’s pad and the party.we’re the first ones there and guess what the tabel’s full of? chow! damn, the shovelling never ends. I borrow a ramrod to get more in the gullet. seriously, it’s been a fucking force-feed since we’ve hit the continent. got to regain control. I can’t understand it really cuz mostly I’m too nervous to eat a bunch on tour. anyway, a sack of ‘paprika’ potato chips later and a bunch of gerkins later, a dj is blasting a load of 70s funk from some setup. it’s loud. it’s nothing compared to when philip takes command of it a blasts the wipers at hyper-volume. I’m sitting in the room where it’s emanating and I’m blasted against the wall on a little bench. wow, is it loud. he’s jamming many kinds of music now, really loud – a lot of them are mp3 files from a powerbook. never seen party music this way. the modern age. the folks here are friendly and we have a nice time. thank you philip and romi. I don’t really talk to many people, the music is so loud, I’m mainly into trying to absorb that. all of other team is in another room talking on couches but I’m a little too shy for that. it gets after two and we pile in the van and head back to our hotel in berlin. bye hermsdorf. it’s almost an hour to drive back and everyone’s snoring like champs and looking like flytraps w/the mouths hanging open and the heads tilted back. pretty funny. only a slight number of moves are required to change the body positions and the konking resumes in the ho rooms. guten nacht.

April 15, 2005 at 2:31 pm in reply to: My Neighbours Should Pay Me For Playing This Great Music #100083some new stuff, to decide whether I like it or not:
Moneybrother – To Die Alone (Swedish orchestral pop)
Eagles of Death Metal – Peace Love Death Metal (Qotsa side project)
Queens of the Stone Age-Lullabies to Paralyze
Spoon – Gimme fictionhey Rich, like I said some days ago, give Interpol‘s album "Antics" one try, its melancholic beauty is quite plain, and you can decide immediately if you like them or not.
also an easy decision is it with the Thermals, you either like them or not. it’s power pop-punk full of energy, without any aggression. Best you start with the album "More Parts per Million"
Further Blonde Redhead went into my all times greatest list within seconds last year. they’re more quiet but very melodic and I still can’t get enough of all the hauntingly beautiful tunes. I serioesly recommend them. Best you start with the album "Misery is a Butterfly"
As a countermove I’ll give NIN’s new album a serious try (I never really had them on my radar screen before). thanks for the recommendation

April 15, 2005 at 2:01 pm in reply to: DINO JR. EAST COAST & MIDWEST US TOUR DATES (FROM POLLST #108644YAY for you US Dino fans, hope everyone of you can make it to at least one show!
April 15, 2005 at 1:58 pm in reply to: j interview + full page pic in may 05 issue of total guitar #108599thanks a big lot for typing out the interview, rambleon!!

some interesting info in there, also for non-guitar players."rambleon" wrote:for maximum authenticity, read this interview very slowly.
"rambleon" wrote:i had a brief phase of heavy drinking durin the mid-1990s, but that was about it. and i could still play during that time. if i could still stand, i could still play. the guitar is pretty easy to play in any state!I remember we had a thread about it a while back, J & straight edge.
that clears everything up now, and I think it’s true: that was about it.yeah, Lou Barlow will be on tour in Europe in May, here are some dates I found:
German tour dates:
THU May 12, 2005, München, Zerwirk
SAT May 14, 2005, Berlin, Tacheles/ Café Zapata
SUN May 15, 2005, Hamburg, Weltbühne
SUN May 22, 2005, Köln, Gebäude 9UK tour dates:
SUN 29/05/2005 19:30 Carling Academy Islington London
TUE 31/05/2005 19:30 Manchester University ManchesterI also just heard that he’ll play in Barcelona/Spain in the first week of May, so I’m sure there are more European tour dates
thanks guys, great to see you back here, K7!

Rich, if my summer plans become more concrete, I’ll definitely let you know, thanks!
🙂
…my sister lives in Brooklyn and now they’ve got a house on their own, so it’s easy for them to have guests, and she invited me very insistently. Also my dad wants me to come with him to his buffalo farm in Saskatchewan, Canada, and although both places are not really close, I’d combine it when I cross the pond. the plans are still very vague, no date, not even sure about the month, but I’ll know more, when summer comes closer
cool, that was very persuasive

so I went straight away to a ticketselling site, only to see that the Hellacopters show here is already completely sold out
a ticket which I didn’t buy, yet: the Hellacopters play on June 1 in a club right outside my door. I’m still totally unsure if I should go or not

due to all the computer mess I had, I totally missed the fact, that Watt and his Secondman played here in my city on Wednesday
April 8, 2005 at 3:46 pm in reply to: DINOSAUR to play Hurricane & Southside Festival in Germa #108484good news!

it’s already up on the Hurricane site and the Southside site:
Dinosaur Jr at the Hurricane Festival
Dinosaur Jr at the Southside Festivalthe festival timetables are not finished, yet.
they took the German band bio from another German site http://www.laut.de — here’s a translation: German Bio…Uncoolness(?)
…well, actually, that’s what I was kinda "afraid of": the Hurricane Festival is only about 80 km away from my city and there is an ok train connection, so I could go, at least with a day ticket for the actual night

but I h-a-a-a-a-a-t-e festivals
… have to sleep that over! I really prefer a normal concert in a normal hall, so London is still my favorable Dino event
oh man, just when I thought my computer was fine again, it broke down with a new syndrome
Have it fixed now, hope it lasts for a while.
My calculation is: I saved 1000 Euros, because I didn’t have to buy a new computer and spent only 300 Euros on repairs, so I have 700 left for Dino in London … and more Dino gigs… hm, and other holiday plans, like …NYC and/or Canada in summer …oh well! somehow there’s always more on the wishlist, than there’s fresh money in… but one is for sure, that the computer has to be nice now!

yeah, I like the FC name but it’s gender neutral, so it’s that many people tend to think I’m a guy. but hey, that’s the pic for: to clear that up
🙂"Coma Girl" wrote:… hope that mod gig you went to awhile back wasn’t too scary
ah, yeah, that mod night… I was wearing a skirt, turtleneck pullover and boots, all in black (no surprise) to sorta represent the existentialism fraction of that era, and it fitted quite well in there. I was promising myself to become more perfect in making that kind of dramatic black eye make up for the next time

The music they played was a perfect mix of extremely obscure Northern soul songs, which was ok one night long, although it’s not exactly my kind of music.
the next mod club night is on May 15th, and it’s in that same venue right after the show of a certain Lou Barlow, and I will be so there!!!!

there’s a possibility to d/l the song:
