I would buy many more records if the CD prices weren’t that ridiculously high
So I only buy what I already know and don’t make any experiments.
Who gets the difference between the rawling price and the price you pay in the shop? The artist? Will it all be spent on the development of new artists? surely not. Distribution and marketing costs are no satisfying explanations for me, too.

Some great ideas here
unfortunately my creative abilities are weak, but I surely would like to take part on the contribution side

hey dB, great info, thanks
the Gun Club was surely one of the most underrated bands, especially in the US, so I appreciate it very much, that some great artists do a tribute show now
I would love to see that festival, but it’s a bit far away…

How cool that you had the chance to get pics and talk to J that much!

hey RuBrick,
you might not be totally wrong with your statement, but I think we all really wish that J receives the attention he deserves
And this attention is not only the result of "Payola", but it could also derive from a smart support and e.g. the right decision about the singles, etc. That’s possible with a smaller budget, too.

City Slang in Europe is also not that big, and the market here is split in different countries and languages, but somehow they seemed to be more successful with their marketing strategies concerning More Light

That’s what I wish to happen with ‘Free so Free’ in the US (and Europe), too

very interesting find, Allison
this article gives a lot of background info about what Amma means to J.
I just wondered how much he is into Amma and her philosophy. According to that interview she seems to be very important in his life
I think more and more that his affinity to the ‘freedom’-topic on his new record derives from here…

with Nero you can burn mp3’s easily. To burn audio CDs (which you can play in each CD player)you just select them from your hard drive and burn them. Nero does the change to audio format for you in the background.
I burned many CD’s out of mp3’s and I never had problems to play these CDs.

Community announcements are back!

I know that there must have been much work to complete all those nice features, thanks for the effort!
I like the statistics and the quick reply and I appreciate the spell check. The chat room is great, too.
Thanks again

unfortunately I’ve got no time for big journeys these days, so I can’t go
But like Allison said, reviews or pics of the event would be fantastic!

I bought an internal CD burner (TEAC, 32x, NERO), it wasn’t that expensive and it works really good, no complaints to report
The only thing – I was really glad, that my geeky friend installed it for me, I couldn’t do that myself easily. Not only all those screws and cables to move, but to switch the connection from my other CD drive from master to slave position and so on…
But maybe that’s just me
External drives are surely easier to install.

Ammaring, the description of the City Slang guy about the new record sounds very promising
Thank you for posting that I’m really looking forward to the single – and also to the record, of course
Like deepsludge said, there was a small report of J about the 09-11 incident here on this site: J about plane crash .
But I also think, J’s dedication to the freedom topic derives from his engagement for Amma, too. Maybe a combination of both, or maybe it’s not just that simple … who knows? Maybe he will talk about it in an upcoming interview? hope so

the coolest female drummer I can think of is surely
Moe Tucker, but she was already mentioned here.
Also very very cool: Lindy Morrison (Go-Betweens).
Another female drummer: Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney)
