I was so sad about Jeffrey Lee Pierce’s death in 1997 I didn’t manage to listen to it much since then, but these records are too good to be ignored…hey screaming tree, I found the article you talk of:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A41920-2002Jul21.html
thanks for the reviews and set list! seems like it was as good as ever
quote:
Originally posted by deepsludge:

And please don’t forget to report, so that we others don’t have to be too jealous!
hey furry thing,
you’ve got it good. You have the chance to see the only Stooges tribute show with J, the Ashetons and Watt here in Europe this summer!
The other bands on the festival are cool, too.
Hope you’ll have a lot of fun there and maybe you could post a review afterwards?
That would be great!July 19, 2002 at 6:02 pm in reply to: City Slang will be releasing the new J. & The Fog record #55192Hey Jeremiah,
theat’s great news, indeed!
Now we know some more details about the upcoming new J record (e.g. the European release date ).
And thanks to City Slang/ Keith to inform us.
the description of the new record sounds good, but I want to hear more of it (can’t wait)
quote:
Originally posted by deepsludge:

deepsludge, did you findd out which part of Germany your ancestors came from? And you Malcom?
Some of my ancestors emigrated to the US in the 19th century, but we’ve lost all contact to the relatives there. Don’t even know their names. My aunt wanted to ask the mormons about them, they have many ancient family registers.

Jesus & Mary Chain – Darklands (Happy when it rains ) – Everything by JAMC, actually.

where are the other Germans, who stayed around here, by the way?
I’m all German, too (no surprise) Threw it in the CD player, and I’m glad I did. It’s such a cool record
dfkgurl was a cool person, too, in a friendly way – never upset.Hey Max,
I’m so very sorry to hear this about your mum, and I want to thank you that you let us know.I remember when dfkgurl told us how she appreciated it, when you were the DJ in the car, and how glad she was that you both had a similar taste in music. When I read her post, I thought how cool it was when you became a member here on the message board, too.
Now, the circumstances are so very sad, but we all would love it, when you’d like to post here and tell us something about your life, your taste in music and your opinion about J Mascis.
All the best wishes to you!
Flying Cloudbad news: I saw yesterday, that the announcement on the Forum homepage disappeared and I emailed them to ask if the show will take place. they were so kind to answer immediately, that the tour is cancelled
according to the Forum guy, they were "too expensive" *sigh*
I hope J will turn up around here in the near future, hopefully in some kind of electric line up. that would be great…hey den Buck, thanks for the Sonic Youth review by the way. I decided now to go to their gig here on July, 10th (just a few steps away from my flat ). I lost them out of sight after Goo, but the new album is quite fine, and they don’t come around very often … and your set list sounds good, so I’m looking forward to it
hey whatdisay,
thanks for your fine review
sounds like you had a great night. I know, these solos are incredible. I was overwhelmed, too, when I had the luck to see one of J’s acoustic shows.
And finally you got to talk to him afterwards! [ 07-02-2002, 04:09 PM: Message edited by: Flying Cloud ]
