yeah, the Go-Betweens never disappoint anyone with their encore approach.
the last time they entered the stage at a time, when the lights and tape music were already on again, and the stage helpers started to remove the equipment. the hall manager said NO, but the band said YES, and so they played another two songs
the Euro schedule is a zig-zag trip as well.
Holland, London, North Germany, South Germany, East Germany, Holland again. each route is several hours to drive.May 30, 2005 at 1:40 pm in reply to: DINOSAUR to play Hurricane & Southside Festival in Germa #108490both, Hurricane & Southside festivals are sold out

from what I’ve heard it’s rather unusual that these two big rural festivals do sell out at all. must be because of Dinosaur Jr

last night I saw the Go-Betweens, like I always try to do when they’re in town. it’s incredible how they maintained the main elements of their australian country inspired pop sound over the decades. they started in the late 70’s, had a long break during the 90’s, and then it happened what all fans have been waiting for over 10 years: a full reunion in 2000, with the intention to stay together, and to record new albums

and the new material of the 3 new albums since then fit perfectly with the older songs. their sound of timeless, lighthearted beauty shows its underlying weirdness best in the last third of their shows when band and audience lift off in exuberant jam sessions, and when the encores (five to my count, yesterday) only come to their end, because the band is almost about to keel over
"rambleon" wrote:the festivals were announced months ago, and tickets have been on sale for a long time now … the reading festival is always a sell-out, most likely due to its proximity to london
i’ve never been to the leeds festival, but the reading festival ground is close to the centre of town … so it’s a fixed amount of space (unlike say, the many farming fields of glasto) and most of the ground is taken up with car parking and tents …
if you’re dying to go to the festival, i bet you’d be able to pick some up on ebay +/or on the day …
thanks a lot for the explanations!

cool reviews all around
🙂
I can really recommend to ask Hansione via pm for his Arcade Fire pics from the Amsterdam show, they are awesome!
and Hansione, thanks for the inpressions from the Lou Barlow show. his remaks on stage are really funny.Coma Girl, thanks for the tour dates. As Grant Hart will also stop in my city, I think I’ll gonna be there.
And Carl, cool story about all these people up there on stage

me, I just saw the band "I am Kloot" from Manchester. their music is quite classic Brit pop with a singer/songwriter approach. it was an excellent show, and the more I listen to their new album "Gods and Monsters" the more I can’t stop listening… I can recommend to check them out!
oh yeah, a reunion of the true Dino lineup J Mascis, Mike Johnson and George Berz would definitely be cool, too!

now that prize found a good new home, indeed
congrats!
I’m curious if anyone else here is among the winners?According to dinosaurjr.com, both festivals are sold out already
how come that big festivals like these can be sold out so long in advance? couldn’t they hire a bigger area?very cool read! thanks a lot for making this available, Coma Girl!
woohoo, good to hear you’ll have the chance to catch at least one show, reiner!

I’ll see them in Berlin, and my plans for also seeing them in London are almost fixed, too
🙂May 22, 2005 at 6:30 am in reply to: My Neighbours Should Pay Me For Playing This Great Music #100115I’ve seen Lampshade in March this year and the show was really impressing.
great female singer
currently I’m listening to:
I Am Kloot – Gods and Monsters
Beck – Guero
Go-Betweens – Oceans Apart
Hot Hot Heat – Elevatorthanks a lot for the info hangover!

so, besides Spain and Cologne, they will play more European shows in August. I wonder which other dates will come in

hey hansione, cool that you had the chance to see them, too

would be nice to see your pics! Maybe you have the possibility to put them online somewhere? I’ve been looking around a bit in the ‘net for pics, but what I’ve found so far didn’t really show what I’ve seen. I assume their shows are hard to catch with a camera.
I knew I should better have left out all those song and band names
I mean, I know Bakesale by heart, but don’t ask me song names.
cool, you were there too! it’s a nice club, isn’t it.thanks a lot for the set list!
