Nice show. Good to meet Anthony too!
No setlist from me, but they opened with Gargoyle and ended with Mountain Man. J asked the crowd at the end if they’d rather hear Tarpit or Mountain Man. I thought the crowd’s response for Tarpit was louder, but I think J really felt like playing Mountain Man instead. At least we got to see the reverse flying V! They also played Repulsion somewhere in the set (highpoint for me).
The distance, at the Paradise, between the stage and the bar is about 30 feet. So I can understand Erik_426’s complaint if he was on the floor (moving back doesn’t really help). The balcony, you get a bit more vocals but not much. Typical for the Paradise.
Not offended at all, Annastefka… I was just recalling what I used to do back in the early 90’s when I was in my late teens. I used a lot of "trial and error" attempts at getting into shows back then. I must admit, it didn’t work all the time. Anyway, I didn’t realize you’d have to drive so much to Knoxville. That IS a bit of a hike to risk not getting in. I wish I could help you out.
Sounds like a blast!
I just keep waiting for the day both Dino and Sebadoh play back to back (short sets tho, cuz you don’t wanna tire the Lou-meister).
Elbit,
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Knoxville show is 18+ right?
The likely reason the club’s not giving you a straight answer, is they don’t want to be quoted as saying "it’s okay" – since their club license (or somethingrather) says they can only let people in over 18 if they’ll be serving alcohol (a stupid but common rule in the US). And you’re (let me guess) 16 or 17? Well, do all people your age have drivers licenses? No, right? And, you wouldn’t need to prove your age for any real reason yet… so just say you’re 18 at the door… or better yet, just say "under 21" or "not drinking" and stick your wrists out for the X’s. There’s no law that says you NEED and ID. And I can’t imagine them demanding a copy of your birth certificate at the door. If they DO, then just linger around the band’s bus and ask Lou or Murph (J might be more of a challenge to initiate conversation with) and they SHOULD be able to help (at least get your name on some list at the door with the help of their tour manager). But all in all, I bet you’ll be fine if you just present your ticket, not look nervous, and say something brief like "how’s it goin’" to the door person. If they give you trouble, say "I’m 19". Just remember, the real challenge is getting in shows that are 21+, when you’re underage.
What’s the deal with 2 open dates after the Boston shows? Could they hit Western Mass or Connecticut?

I’d be thrilled to see DEEP WOUND play a reunion show. I don’t think it’d be right for them to tour really, but maybe just do one or just a few opening-for-Dino gigs. I imagine them only being able to bust out 20 minutes tops, but that would be *most excellent* nonetheless.
J’s always been lazy, in terms of memorizing his own song titles. I remember seeing them on the Where You Been tour, and the setlist read "Country 1" and "Country 2" for Get Me and Drawerings.
No problem Tom. They’ll play it again someday, most likely. Maybe next time they tour the States (crossing fingers) there’ll be a request poll or something. I really liked both shows I went to immensely, but I can definitely think of a half dozen or so songs I really wish I’d seen them do.

Has anybody seen this video footage yet? Is it any good?
Which show(s) did they play "Hassle"? I kind of hinted at Lou the other day (as a request) for that song, but he said they weren’t playing that song on this tour.
I can imagine it being enjoyable, despite my original comment about the small festival. I have mixed feelings regarding experimental shows and whatnot. I do wish I lived a bit closer to the Hampshire hills region, perhaps I’d feel more in touch with what goes on around there. Anyway, I’m definitely psyched to see the original Sebadoh line-up again since my only time seeing it back in April of 93.
Wow, I’m surprised the Bent Moustache showed. So what’d J do, play a Fall cover with them? Wish I’d seen that actually. BTW, was anybody from Sebadoh there? Hope you didn’t have to sit thru too much crud to see the goodstuff.
(Re: Grammy’s)
Sting’s vocals were a bit too "Fields of Barley" for me. Maybe if he tried harder to reproduce his original high pitched yowl, I’d feel different. I’m gonna skip this reunion.
After hearing the vocals pretty well last night, I think the new Lou song was "Back to Your Heart". He intro’ed the song by saying "Thanks to Mike Flood for helping me write this one".
I totally thought "Feel the Pain" was great – weird seeing both Murph and Lou play on that one.
