It’s from a show they played at Wesleyan University in Middletown CT, Fall 1987. I love how Lou abandons most of the lyrics and just screams (he used to sing Mountain Man that way too).
The MMs are a "noise" band. This kind of free-form art is just one component of our great cultural art form: punk rock. I understand how many listeners wouldn’t "get" them or appreciate the MMs, but I think Dinosaur Jr probably respects them because they know what really DOES suck out there, and the MMs are a great band for shoving a big F-YOU-finger-in-the-face to those bands that do actually blow. I do realize that noise isn’t for everyone all the time (myself included). But I’d just like to point out that sometimes noise is beauty (last 15 seconds of "Tarpit" from You’re Living All Over Me always sends shivers).
August 31, 2006 at 4:08 pm in reply to: Dinosaur Jr Gear Stolen (Long Island City, NY) [CALL FOR HEL #121219Same thing happened to Brian Jonestown Massacre almost a year ago, after playing in Brooklyn. The same night Witch opened, I think.
Did anybody record last night?
No Murdervan, just Mouthus opened.
Dinosaur were great last night, despite having to use replacement gear. Looks like J grabbed one of his Jazzmasters and some basic pedals from back home. Lou was using a Firebird which did the job just fine. No real surprises, but definitely a great show (they seemed in good spirits, especially Murph). Highlights included Tarpit & Does It Float. Mountain Man was the perfect closer (I couldn’t resist jumping into the crowd, who were nice enough to not let my drunken body hit the floor too hard). Great to see them play CT finally. Too bad for the band it wasn’t a sell-out show, but it was nice that it wasn’t jam packed.
Is this "girlfriend" candidate into music much? If not, this could be your last show you go to for a while

But seriously, did you check out the toads website? I’m pretty sure tickets are far from selling out.
It’s "selfish moron" at the end of the 2nd verse. The rest… your guess is as good as mine.
Most delicious!! I f-ing can’t wait to see those guys again, and this time I don’t have to drive more than 30 minutes after the show’s over!! My wife will be pleased.
"Poledo" is a made-up word by Lou (like the word "Sebadoh"). Shortly after the song was released, he met Kath (whom he married later on). I imagine he perked up around that time.

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the report. Sounds like a great nite (too bad about the parking fee). Looking forward to hearing your recording. Plus, you should try and get that ’89 Newcastle gig uploaded onto freesofree. I’d be psyched to hear that old relic! Some good news: Witch is playing June 9th in Northampton MA at Pearl St (opening for Dungen).
How can there not be a recording of this show?!! We must have it up on http://www.freesofree.net – Please somebody! WHHHHHHYYYYYYY!!!!
Quote:2. Can anyone here convince me that They Always Come isn’t the best tune on Bug? That song is a sonic marvelTrue, that song and "No Bones" are epics!
April 26, 2006 at 2:06 pm in reply to: WITCH show – Wesleyan University – April 30….is this show #116774funny, I just left a notice about this in the "J/Dino live section" the same exact time you posted here. sorry for the bad news.
Anthony, you are right that is Ajay in the Freak Scene video. Tom, I think you mean "re-introduced" cuz he first met everybody back when the old Dinosaur toured Europe several times in the 80’s.
