whatever happens, just get mike johnson back on stage with him. and maybe a setlist of songs 1 night with nothing but b-sides and/or songs he just doesnt play anymore:

        forget it
        water
        start choppin
        puke and cry jam session
        hot burrito #2
        in a jar
        grab it
        im insane
        i know yer insane
        cant we move this
        pond song
        i dont think so

        encore:
        over yer shoulder
        turnip farm
        thumb–of course

or something even more ridiculous, in true van halen form- have mike come out for one half of songs, then have lou come out for the sst-era stuff. then close the whole shit with the breeders (who should open, along with thurston moore solo) doing ‘do you love me now jr’, and 2nd encore it with j and lou joining them for ‘the freed pig.’

no, just a few standing around me, there coulnt have been more than 100 people on the floor and a few up top. i heard the sy show down the street was full of industry creeps, it was my first LA show but the people who were there seemd really into it.

i cant explain how she was dancing, like stevie nicks, a hippie and a crackhead combined i suppose. and there were 2 blonde groupies there for the bass player, and i knocked a drink out of the hands of an industry douche during sludgefeast, i was belligerent at that point. there was also a hot blonde and brunette by the bar making fun of people, i caught her imitating me (eyes closed, swaying and very high) so i called her a skank and continued rocking out, i also caught the photographer taking pics of me for some reason, i dont know who he was though. anyway it was worth the nightmarish turbulence from LAX to PVD…

hey i just flew back from the LA show. i flew from RI to see it and had a friend who lives in LA, and it was definitely worth the trip. the set list was a bit weird, reminded me of the last hand it over tour shpws where j was playing 20min. solos on everything, im still upset i didnt hear out there and yeah we know, but tarpit was ridiculous. i was the wasted guy in front screaming for thumb all nite, i started giving a thumbs-up and pointing to it. im sure he saw because the place was empty, and those record industry herbs are fucking weak, cant believe they get their own side entrance in LA. anyway, soon as he started strumming thumb i lost it, and yes the girl down front was extremely weird, j had to notice, but at least she knew some of the words. he better come home and play local with the band, ive seen the acoustic thing 12 times, it’s great but this new drummer is bananas, wish i couldve caught sonic youth down the street.

have no fear folks, that’s me who wrote the j review on noripcord, givin my man some international props. also i’m the idiot who tried to get to the brooklyn show last week and almost got killed when my tire blew out on rte 95 leaving RI. i still have the goddamn ticket– j, matt and george owe me a tire. anyway- alos check that site for my upcoming fire theft review (scored the demos- shit is amazing) and check the 50 albums of the year icon, j is in of course and i got to squeeze in mike Johnson at #50.

hey king tubby- i’m curious- what time did they get on? i left RI with ticket in hand at 5pm, got in a car wreck at 6pm just outside RI and never made it. i went home with a concussion and cried myself to sleep listening to bug and smoking lots of weed- i almost tried again but was too dizzy to take my sister’s car and i think it woulda been too late…
                      thanks

here’s what i need to know: is he still in contact with mike johnson, the greatest bassist ever? was it an amicable split in ’97? what does j think of MJ’s last amazing solo album?
also, does he realize or even care that there are people out there obsessed with his music, people like me who will be driving 4 hours alone to brooklyn this friday nite, after battling a blizzard last month to see him in hoboken? when he returns from australia, any more fog shows (he never came to providence or conn. on this tour)??

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY- and i’m sure he’ll have no interest in this, but is there a reason why he doesnt play certain songs live anymore? he has not played start choppin live since lolla 93, and i cant die a happy man until i see it live.
