December 10.
YES, can’t wait! On the contrary, my girl is totally aware of the sonic assault and she always insists that I wear plugs anyway. In this case, she has a very good point.
I’ll look for (the one and only?!) balding middle-aged rocker. I’m not quite middle-aged, but past 30 (is that middle-age?). Anyway, I’m sure there’ll be plenty of old-timers rockin. I must say…being a fan since I was 15, this is pretty nostalgic for me.
They best be playing The Lung and Kracked. And what’s up with not playing The Leper?!I’m there for sure (w/ear plugs)
Yep me too…the thumbs don’t enlarge!

Must agree w/ bob and JayDee. Free So Free is pretty dull in contrast to all the great Dino stuff as well as More Light. More Light is fucking great in terms of song writing AND production. I think the production quality on More Light is pretty raw actually. There are GREAT songs on Free, such as Everybody…, and Set Us Free, but the majority of it pretty bland. It’s good to see J try new things though and every live performance (I’ve seen lots) is insanely good.
As far as production goes, I think Where You Been’s production is crap- much much too glossy. However, so is Green Mind and that’s a sublime record! Yet, since it’s somewhat of a pop record, the glossy production works.
And bringing back Lou WON’T help I don’t think. That’s so long gone that it’s ridiculous to comprehend. However, YLAOM is a brilliant, amazing piece of rock n roll (production too). One of the best records period.Ooops. I mean, that’s ‘Quest’ you speak of.

That’s Severed Lips you’re refering to. Classic treatment done by J last night. Top notch stuff.
Yeah, so Rollins is a steroid freak now, but Hank was pretty damn great in his Black Flag days. No Greg Ginn, but still he held his own…
Was at the show in Seattle last night. Great show…a good number of people showed up to support the ol’ dinosaur. My one quip is that J only played about 3 verses of The Lung and abandoned the rest of the song! No big deal, the rest of the gig was great. A couple new songs were played (not sure of the titles), Every Mother’s Son, and a great variety of all the favorite jewels….Repulsion, Little Fury Things, The Wagon, Get Me, Keeblin’…..etc etc…
And lets not forget Mike Johnson’s wonderful set as well.
Sorry folks, I have no pics to post, but cameras were flashing all night…..
and that’s my two centsOh sorry, Blind Willie Johnson damn it. Yes that is the one. Oh yeah, speaking of Waits, Howlin’ Wolf was a big influnce on him. Especially his singing. Another great.
Has anyone else ever noticed that Mick Jagger is turning into Don Knotts?!?¨#@ø¨ˆ<pi><pi>†§•º
It’s strikingly, really kind of a freaky resemblance!salamiguy-
I’m pretty familiar with all the jazz giants you listed. I love Miles Davis, Coltrane, Ornette, Monk, all those guys. How could you not if you’re into jazz? Those guys are pioneers of the music. As far as blues goes, my knowledge is a little more limited there, but I do enjoy Robert Johnson (of course), Bessie Smith, Leadbelly. I don’t know too many people who know Son House, but he is just amazing. Really dark. The 3 "Blind’ guys I’m not so familiar with except for Willie.Oh, and you can’t forget Leonard Cohen, and (most of) Dylan’s work, as well as Mr. Johnny Cash for standing the "test of time." I for one am suprised Johnny is still around. Very glad though…………Townes Van Zandt is another I just thought of. Like I said, the list just goes on and on and on. whew.
TOM WAITS!!!!!! Always.
MIles Davis, Nick Drake, Ramones, Scott Walker, Willie Nelson, Spacemen 3, Stereolab, Nick Cave w/ The Birthday Party & The Bad Seeds, John Lee Hooker, Son House, Coltrane, Sun Ra, VU,………….
Man, the list goes on and on. Really. There are SO MANY great bands and musicians that are always refreshing, every listen. I could go on and on.hey deepsludge-
that video you’re talking about was on this site somewhere about a month ago. I know because this is the only place I would’ve found it. I think it used to be in the MP3 section, but now I’m not sure. Hopefully Jeremiah will read this and steer you in the right direction. It’s in the UK, or maybe NYC, green polo shirt, sitting in wood chair, heavy distorted solo’s on acoustic, about 45 min. to an hour long………Great performance -
