No way. Tom Cruise would kick your ass with two hands behind his back before you could say, "I knew it!"

Shit. That does, indeed, sound more likely. The guy sounded quite reliable, though.
"everyonelovesjaron" wrote:What knowledge of good music? That’s incredibly subjective.See, I’m not being terribly demanding here. Rolling Stone still has J’s new album listed as "Feel so Free". Avoid mistakes like that, and you’re halfway there. (Sadly, Pitchfork has yet to produce a review of the album, but nobody’s perfect.)

All the time.I agree that their rating is often as much based on indie credibility as it is on the quality of the record. But, then, bands like Built to Spill, Grandaddy, Modest Mouse, and Wilco deserve their high rating. And occasionally they do surprise by, say, giving Sonic Youth’s "NYC Ghosts & Flowers" a 0.0. Or read their review of Bob Dylan’s "Live 1966: The Royal Albert Hall Concert". (Not written in the format you laid down, by the way, but in a fictional letter from Billy Bragg.) The man that defined part of the mainstream in rock gets the 10.0 he deserves. Meanwhile, Neil Young, indie legend, receives a harsh 3.3 for "Year of the Horse".
So, "all the time"? No. Things are not that simple. Part of their grade is based on indie credibility, part on personal taste, and part on the quality of the record. Fine by me.
Holy shit!
He played "Even You"! Has he ever played that live in the past seven years? Damn. Anything is possible now. Next thing you know, he’ll be playing "Turnip Farm" and "Over Your Shoulder" live. Gotta see him again.Really, Jaron? Interesting. Then why don’t you write us a well-written, knowledgeable, and entertaining review of "Free so Free" between 400 and 800 words, and come back when you’ve finished that.
Seriously? Pitchfork deserves credit for their knowledge of good music, the passion they have for it, and most of all: for the fact that they are actually able to write about it decently.
Hell, is there even one other website that has informed, long cd reviews by people who can write?

Oh, wait, nevermind.
But you should. Listen to Without a Sound, that is. It’s one of the most underrated albums ever. With superior lyrics:
"Figures. I don’t get to meet you.
I know. Whatever. It’s still the same."Same for Where You Been. I still have trouble seeing how some people can not think it is one of the best albums ever. Who are these people? How can they listen to the opening solo of "Out There" without trembling in awe? I don’t get it.
Or the "Thumb" from Quest, which I prefer.
But the real question is: when will J cover "Hot Burrito No. 1"? With lines like,
"I’m your toy; I’m your old boy;
but I don’t want no one but you to love me,"it is practically written to be performed by J. Maybe the current European tour would be a good moment to try the song out? Come on, J, you know you want to.

quote:
He didn’t even bother to get on a picture with me, my brother and some other guys!

So he did bother, but you mean he didn’t mind taking a picture with you. Cool.
Anyway… thanks for the review. Did he happen to play "Free so Free"? So far, it seems like that song has been kept off the set list, and I’m really hoping to hear it when he plays Edinburgh next week.
Please, J?
Actually, there are lots of people from Europe. Some of them are even on the Freakscene Team!
*Clears throat and points at himself and captain geebheart.*
We’re also proud to have, now you’ve been kind enough to join, at least seven members from Finland.
Welcome!
Ouch. Hope you feel better soon, J. Have a quick recovery. All the best!
And, Jeremiah, maybe you’d better let Dr. Mattman take a look at you. I hear he does drive-in operations now.

quote:
or is he just being covert?

Isn’t that his middle name — "covert"?
