the re-issues are apprently not as good as the originals, that said, i have a re-issue d.e.m, and it is brilliant. the only complaint i have is getting a nice super slow sweep going, considering the pot is a bit touchy, though you should love it. congrats dude!
you cant buy from fender japan anymore, and the japaneese shops that carry them are not allowed to import them into america, or europe.
if you didn’t want to route it(im assuming you’re talking about a jagmaster?) which wou would have to do if you wanted to drop p-90’s in it. You could go the humbucker sized p-90 route.
Maybe, I can’t get a nice picture from that video to tell either way.
if remebering properly j’s first jazzy came with a t.o.m. already in place of a standard fender jaguar/jazzmaster bridge, though i could be wrong.
its press fit, or atleast thats hat i was told.
i’m pretty sure that carl perkins used a jazzy, i cant find the vdeo to prove this, but if memory serves. the jazzmaster wasnt "popular" iin the sense of the word towards jazzy players, but it had a fair bit of triumph at allowing more options to jazz players, rather than the gretsches and gibsons.
i heard that fender is making them for like $60 bucks or something, though its just something i heard.
plenty of jazz players used the to my understanding. Even hendrix used on when he was in someones backing band. Even some rockabilly players used jazzies, carl perkins for example.(though i can no longer find the video of it.)
considering jazzmasters and jaguars were top of the line models in the day, and outsold strats in the early sixties, im wondering as to why they were called mid to low end models.
the jaguar basses are jazz basses with an active circut in them. that said, they play amazing, and sound pretty good.
"Randy Jane " wrote:ok, is it just the Jagmasters or are Jazzy’s and Jag’s kinda muddy too? I know I cant expect it to sound like my Strats but….it sounds muddy, dull and lifeless like my Mustang. Is this just the way that they are designed? Can you change that? The Mustang is Poplar (body) and the Jagmaster is like Agathis or something….which is the same as my Tele (which is twangy). So whats the deal? How can I get a better tone out of that? Remember, it has humbuckers too. I’m thinking about doing the same mods as you all are talking about, 500k CTS’s and new pups…maybe switch to Duncan 1/4 pounds. ? I dont know. The Jagmasters I think just have a bad name but they’re essentially a Jazzy with a Strat bridge and different electronics (that is to say that the neck and body is the same on the 2nd gen. ….full scale versions). Gimme some input..R/J
the twanginess of the teles comes from their bridge(or atleast thats my understanding of it).
rstguitars is probably right with that deduction of adding mass to the headstock of a guitar, since people do tend to want added mass on the headstock. a jazzmaster i would really want to see is the seven pole piece jazzmaster prototype, ive only seen photos, and it looks stunning.
the av jazzmasters are amazing, the cij/mij ones are pretty nice guitars.
i just heard about it on another forum, that really sucks. almost like the sy gear theft of 2000.
