Am very stoked the Annandale show has been moved to the Metro. I’m over the Annandale. I’m now going to see J on both nights. Should be solid.
stoked justin. i went for the metro. got mine at 9:03am and i was ticket number 49. very pumped.
hi, am also pumped about the dinosaur gigs.
his solo gigs at the gaelic club and then the enmore theatre were the last we’ve seen of j in this town. i’ve just been o/s with dinosaur’s hultsfred festival 1997 gig blasting on the iPod – it’s available for free download from this site. not sure if you’ve checked these downloads but i highly recommend them. i’ve checked most and the hultsfred gig is one of the better ones in terms of sound quality. sludgefest and so what else is new? sound so solid it’s mind boggling.
hopefully run into y’all at one of the gigs. i’m going for the metro gig rather than the annandale.

‘rage’ is a long-running (about 20 yrs i think) music clip show on the australian public broadcasting network (similar to bbc) that runs from midnight on friday and saturday nights to about 8am the following morning. see this link here – http://www.abc.net.au/rage/rage.htm”>http://www.abc.net.au/rage/rage.htm. the top 50 is always the last part of the show which is pretty sappy at the best of times (e.g. eminem, britney, human nature). but in the early hours of friday morning up till about 5am, it’s an array of pot luck clips and on saturday nights, there’s guest programmers, usually a band touring the country, and they give a general intro to start a batch of about 5 songs. sometimes there’s ‘specials’ – such as the big day out. recent programmers include anthrax and metallica. if you go to the above link, you can see the playlists of guest programmers for the past 6 years (incl. sonic youth’s the other night).
if you get your fave bands programming, it’s a killer and worth the late night on the couch.
purple fungus. it’s stretching my memory back but i think the last tune j played at the enmore theatre show was either "quest" from the dinosaur jr "quest" album (hard to find) or "alone" from the dinosaur jr "hand it over" album.
sorry for the late reply but i’ve been off-line a while.
i stayed up and watched rage on saturday night, guest programmed by sonic youth. it was one of those nights where every clip was a killer. j scored two clips – one as dinosaur jr with "the wagon" and the as j + the fog with "everybody gets me down". other artists included the butthole surfers, built to spill, iggy pop, pj harvey, the jam, gumball, the folk implosion, pavement, the breeders, devo….the list goes on.
i’m off to see jeff lang at the sydney opera house on saturday night. for anyone that wants to see a local artist with guitar talents up there with j, check him out (jefflang.com.au).
catch y’all later. kimba
hi flying cloud. as i said, j’s enmore theatre show was great. he made it look effortless as he tore through a medley of dinosaur/the fog on his gibson acoustic cutaway i’m just itching to hear it all again full blown and with j on his mighty jazzmasters!
he played about 15 in total – for me, "Not you again" "Set us free" and "Freakscene" were the highlights. a8o mentioned j’s monster lead in "Get me" and i must say that’d it’d scare most kids away.
hi purple haze, re getting j’s CDs in sydney, just check out utopia records near the george st cinemas or even one of the jb hi fi stores. i find that some shops stock "More Light" and "Free so Free" amongst the dinosaur stuff so check under ‘D’!
to the rest of y’all out there…take care.
went to the enmore theatre show on friday night (18/6). just like last year’s solo session at the gaelic club, j was great.
but j, if you’re listening…please bring the fog and your full set of fenders next time (like you did at newtwon rsl in 2000!!). i’ve many friends that bailed on friday cause of the solo factor.
and robert, we must’ve been near each other cause i got a whiff of that thing as well.
i should also mention that sonic youth were great. kim gordon is the sexiest 63 year old on the planet.
