Well, I don’t know the particulars of your amp model. But, I have done what you are considering a number of times with different amps, usually because someone doesn’t have an amp. It works but it sounds like crap. One guitar will probably be cutting out the other. Singing through a guitar amp always provides a real grungy, low-fi kind of vocal quality. Like I said, it won’t hurt your amp, but you probably wouldn’t want to use that set-up for anything other than practice.

It was a hot, summer night in mid-July.
I had a hang-over and a black-eye.
Your mama said I was a loser, a dead end cruiser, and deep inside I knew that she was right.Mike Ness, Social D.
Don’t. One of the greatest for that. 9 minutes of Sonic Hell. I love that song. I used to be in the AirForce & then proceeded to college. Both places, whenever some obnoxious roomates would feel the need to crank thier stereo with some god-awful crap, I would return the favor by putting that song on repeat at 10. I would lock and leave my room. Upon returning hours later, I would always find every stereo in the surrounding radius cranked full blast. Chaos! Anarchy! while J screams "Why! Why don’t you like me!" I’d be drunk and laughing hysterically. I used to be such an ass. Still am, I suppose.
Thanx for the concurrence Chris and sorry Bean, I didn’t know the topic was emotional screamers. Thanx for clearing that up for me. In that case, I nominate my wife as the greatest of all time. That list was not meant to represent my favorite vocalists or my picks for best singer. I was just listing vocalists I think scream really well. I gotta agree with the references to Plant & Daltrey- major influences on the whole evolution of the rock’n’roll scream. And for the females, I forgot to mention Janis Joplin (I wouldn’t want to be percieved as some type of chauvinist). She had both emotion & power.
There is one genre of music that by far surpasses all others in the production of powerful vocalists…Opera. However, if we are talking rock’n’roll, 80’s heavy metal produced its share of vocal athletes as well. Powerful "screaming" vocalists & shredding guitars are the hall mark of the genre. A small sampling:
Bruce Dickenson-Iron Maiden
Rob Halford-Judas Priest
Tom Araya-Slayer
Geoff Tate-Queensryche
King Diamond-Merciful Fate
These guys are the definition of "metal." By no means is thier music for everyone, but if you are looking for guys with lungs of steel, a 5 octave range, and the ability to awaken the dead beasts of hell- these are the dudes. -
