Freddy didn’t happen to be at the cricket academy when Rod(one time recordholder of beer cans consumed on a Sydney to London flight)Marsh was in charge?
Thanks for the feedback. It’s easy to lose perspective.
I don’t sing much. I’m still getting to grips with the sound of my voice and how to get a good result ,hence the lazy dash of reverb.
My original has the vocals lower in the mix,but once posted became more prominent.I really appreciate that Dinosaur sounds the way it does.As with YLAOM and Bug,they give you an added sense of the time they were recorded. How their sound and production developed.
With later albums, they have more of a produced sound to them, thicker, more layered, more compressed. As great as these albums are, they create a different sense or feeling.Green Mind sits in between(not just chronologically).
Personally,I prefer the earlier stuff…well at the moment anyway. That is the thing with Dinosaur Jr, the albums all create a different feel. You can go through phases and still go back to another album and rediscover it all over.I agree SG.Most of my favourite albums are pretty economically produced and not polished within an inch of it’s life.

Mainstream means different things to different people.
I never thought Dino went mainstream, but then again ,it depends on your starting point. And your exposure.
In Australia, people still say ‘dinosaur What?’
In regards to MUDHONEY,..I was into them practically before anything else…their substance, passion, drive…their tour a few years back with ‘Rocket from the crypt’…still one of the best shows I have seen…MARK ARM (no guitar) out over the foldback during ‘Hate the Police’ still sits with me as one of the best moments ever.Still churning it out.
I’m with you TONAS.
For me ..SUPERFUZZBIGMUFF really got me into that scene. That cover…then the music…set the whole scene.
As much as the band ticks every box on my little piece of paper, and kicks my arse…I’m glad they never went ballistic.
Then again ,isn’t that why Green River split.
I’m not saying you have to hate a band, just that your perception of the band has changed.
You would love to put that record on, …but there is that part of you that hesitates.
I guess it is getting harder now when bands hit almost immediately..you don’t get a chance for that attachment.
They’re BIG before you know their name.I can’t really beat the puppet show and the denim, crack packet.
Mine is a pic of J I took at Byron Bay.
I’d load up some others to the site if I could work it out.

Their style really changed dramatically though.I liked the rough edges prior to the stadium incarnation.December 15, 2006 at 6:39 am in reply to: When You Were Mine…..Your faves Hitting mainstream. #124208Yeah , Nirvana is the prime example.I am also just listening to Incesticide.
How about Foo Fighters?MinuteMAN – Voodoo Slaves
Yeah,
I find the 3 song block of ‘They Always Come’,’Yeah We Know’,’Let It Ride’ are all underrated.
For Me,they are the best part of the album.GREEN day – Having a blast
Green River is just sooo much cooler
Ben lee – cigarettes will kill you
Motor City FIVE – Looking At You
Andy prieBOY – Tomorrow Wendy
Yeah,maybe not cutlery.
I kinda got an image in my head of J bashing away at stuff at the kitchen table.
You know, like when you were a kid(or not so much)waiting for the toast. The HITMEN – Bwana Devil
