I never buy vinyl since I don’t own a record player (and I really can’t afford to start a brand new collection….), but I’m definitely buying this. Even if I just use it to hang and have some really awesome artwork in my place.
Hey Jeremiah, any idea if the shirt in the bundle will be released by itself or even reprinted? I wanted to grab it, but it was sold out by the time I had the means to.

I disagree Javro. I think if anything, Farm appealed to a much wider group of nonlisteners, and I think it showed with how much press and praise it got. I think this record is much more about J just wanting to do a record he’s happy with. He even said he didn’t write these songs to be played live and to tour for, but rather just something for the studio to make a great record.
Oh, and a lot of people have pointed out that “See it on Your Side” is practically a rewrite of Turnip Farm, but did anyone notice that “What Was That” uses practically the same riff as Set Us Free?
I think it might be my favorite of the three reunion records. I think J approached this record in a very unique way compared to how he approached past records, especially Farm. Like, I love just about everything J has ever done, but his stuff on Farm felt like he was on autopilot. You can tell me put more thought into the songs on this. So that’s very refreshing, though it’s weird to not hear so much soloing and whatnot.
I’m sure it’ll go down as a least favorite or bottom end record for a lot of people, but I love it and respect it for what it is in the canon.
Those links are down now….did they realize their mistake?
My only question is how do we specify which size shirt we want? I would hate to buy one of the bundles and then the shirt is too large.
I think you’re right. I have no idea why there would be a crew filming them unless they were filming other things there.
I check Pitchfork every morning hoping to see something.
No problem Obseqio. Maybe during the mid 90s J would have tried something like that, but I recall reading that now he tries to keep things simple (or as simple as three stacks and a giant pedalboard is). Plus there’s no real reason for him to do something like that, since he gets all of his volume and drive boosts from his board. If he were using less effects, or had different amps perhaps, then it could make a difference, but as far as his current setup goes, turning amps on and off wouldn’t do much in the greater scheme of things.
All at the same time. The trick is J doesn’t dime everything like a lot of people do. So there’s still dynamics and whatnot. All of the volume changes comes from his board.
April 9, 2012 at 5:30 pm in reply to: Justin Pizzoferrato drops some serious teasers in his latest blog post…. #138782I think Jeremiah is right. J has a really good management team (in addition to himself), so he probably is able to shop around to what he likes best. Not to mention J obviously has a pretty high pedigree within the industry, so he probably doesn’t have trouble finding people who want to release stuff. I’m curious as to if it’s even a money thing, or rather just who will tend to J’s needs the best. For example, I heard that Matador wasn’t happy with Mission of Burma and how little they toured, since I guess it was part of their deal.
Naaa. It’s just the lighting. J’s always let his hair be the natural way.
Cool pics man. I actually first saw you post them on a different forum awhile back. The last pic has been my display background for months now.
For the opening?
He has wah during the whole thing, a little bit of flange probably, and ton of gain. The whammy bar also adds a lot to the sound.
Well he did Cortez the Killer, which is very similar to Alone (it even uses the same chords). So I guess playing what’s practically the same song would be redundant.
All the videos are sweet though. It was a great lineup.
