God, don’t let them win
I have the same experience. My wife keeps an open mind about things I’m into, at leasts she’s trying, but often when I listen to Dinosaur Jr and J blasts into a really loud and noisy and beautiful part… she asks me to lower the volume

But Please Remember That I’m Here she really likes and even asks me to put on for her. I’m still hoping that it could work as in introduction to the more sonic stuff but I’m not too sure… She does like some Dino tunes like Forget the Swan and most of You’re Living All Over Me but still has a big problem with the noisefest parts – the outros of most tracks on YLAOM for instance :-Awesome

Was Raisans the only tune they played?Counting Crows… yuck!
Could be better.. but that schedule looks pretty good!

I just got some of the Czhec absinth but I heard its not the real deal.I guess that comes down to how "real deal" is defined. Besides personal preferences as for taste, aniseed dominance, herb deposits etc, the important parameter should be the thujon (the active substance in wormwood) content. Absinths with up to 35 mg/kg are readily available here in Czech Republic as well as many other European countries – they can be legally sold if declared as "bitter spirit". Products with higher concentrations can of course be obtained as well…
For sure some Czech "absinths" are shit – cheap vodka with neon green dye.

Time for action. "FÃ¥ arslet ur vagnen" (get one’s ass outta the wagon) means the exact same thing.
Bubble and Scrape is my fav album, the later stuff was not bad but a bit more dull in comparison.

I liked it a lot too… very nice reminder of what a great song that is

Blake Babies’ version of Severed Lips was actually one of the first Dino songs I ever heard. Took me some time to get used to the original version once I got my hands on the first Dino album some time later.
"mabewa " wrote:Yeah, Lou is clearly credited with Lose and Poledo. And, I’ve read in several places that J wrote all of the songs on Bug, even Lose, which, as the remaster liner-notes say "J, perversely, had Lou sing."And, actually, I’ve noticed that my remaster of the debut album says "all songs J Mascis." I just wondered if that hadn’t been a misprint because of the Lou vocals and the very diverse styles of the songs… if it’s all J., he had a lot more eclectic songwriting style in the beginning. The liner notes of "You’re Living All Over Me" refers to "Lose" and "Poledo" as "Barlow’s songwriting swansongs," which to me kind of implies that something preceded them. If "Lose" and "Poledo" were all Lou ever wrote for Dinosaur, then I guess they were his songwriting debuts AND swansongs!
I guess you mean "J wrote all of the songs on Bug, even Don’t,…"
Anyway, without knowing anything for sure, my guess would be that Lou contributed a great deal to the songwriting on the debut album, although probably none of the songs were all "his".

Please don’t beat me up too badly!

Hey it’s quite refreshing to hear it sung with a completely different kind of voice.. I like it

Green Mind – The songs are awesome and the whole album just SOUNDS so fucking great.

Then his finger traced a word on the air, he shifted in his chair, and he fell asleep, dying at some moment well before anyone realized…..Interesting… you think J had Goethe in mind?
