I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something about the outfit on the 3rd pic….
Seriously, I know better than to give advice to women on what to wear, only be faced with "hey, what’s wrong with the other dress?!" or "no you’re wrong, I look much better in that other one".

Actually, they’re all very nice

Wow, great pics… and so many animals! Bob must have had the time of his life if J brought him along for that private show

Artist: J Mascis

Translation:Focused Mascis takes revenge
There must have been something special with that kidney stone that prevented J Mascis from going through with this concert earlier this autumn. It must have been some sort of block for him.
For it has been equally weird every time. Mascis, one of the prime rock artists and most innovative guitarists of the last fifteen years, has, as soon as going on a stage, been transformed into a flat figure. Unconcentrated, sloppy and unnecessarily long-winded. I have seen him as the front figure in Dinosaur Jr, as an acoustic solo artist or, like on last year’s Hultsfred festival, along with the backup band The Fog. Always with the same result.
But not not this time though. This time Mascis seems completely focused on his task. This wasn’t the case last time he was here on his own with an acoustic guitar. Then, a lot of songs were left half-finished, others were stretched out far too long. It gave a very severed impression.
That time he didn’t use the distortion pedal as frequently either. Here it becomes a reminder of what Mascis sounds like as a guitarist on records – like the sounds of saw-blades on highest speed mixed with, in fact, Prince – at the same time as it contrasts to the "lonely-whining-american-with-acoustic-guitar" trot. Sometimes, when the distorted streaks of noise are very short, they get an almost comic effect, but most of the time they work surprisingly well. He even sings fairly on key. And even if it may not be a grand concert in the usual sense, it is nevertheless a little revenge when measured with the Mascis system of units.
Oh well..

any time it seemed ok, had to wreck it couldn’t waitBeing a swede I can confirm that simmon’s translation was accurate. As for the review.. only ++ out of +++++… grrrrrr, I was at that show and it was incredible. Moreover, I’ve been using the Stockholm metro daily for something like ten years and believe me, there are no street musicians there sounding even remotely like J

Here’s another review of that show:
The guy liked it but he’s dissing all other J shows he’s ever seen in sweden
I’ll translate it tonight or tomorrow unless someone else feels like doing it.Set Us Free, but was close to voting for No Way
well there are even some swedish people, though it seems like the norwegians are the most active scandinavian freaks around here at present.
Sophie: I keep looking at your avatar and it’s so cute it just melts me every time <img>
Great news, so cool that he’s coming with just a few weeks delay <img>
Btw, tickets for both the Stockholm and the Malmö gig are still available and can be found here.
Thanks and LOL
belly landing what?? <img>
Very cool site, thanks <img>
the stockholm gig on the 31st is cancelled too <img>
no fun <img>
No way I could wait until the 14th, so a few weeks ago I got the japanese import too. It’s definitely an amazing album and there’s not one tune I can get enough of .. except maybe the chorus of Tell The Truth .. I dunno maybe it’s because I really dig the verse which to me promises something that the chorus doesn’t quite delivers .. but this is a very minor objection cuz I just love the album and it’s so great to have some new stuff from J to listen to during this fall .. funny how I always listen to J excessively in the fall .. there’s just something about J and red leaves I guess. Anyways, right now my fav is Set Us Free and I just can’t wait ’til the 31st when he’s playing over here, kinda wish there was a japanese import deal on that too <img>
