I’m glad I decided not to brave the weather! Still sucks I can’t see the show

And now the weather channel isn’t predicting much snow in this neck of the woods…but they were saying this morining that Philly could get really whapped. I may just have to suck it up, lock the front hubs in, and go. Lemme just say I haven’t watched the weather this closely in a LONG time

Perhaps I should bring a set of ear plugs with me? I’ve never worn ear plugs at a concert (but wished I had many times). My ears ring all the time as it is…If it’s loud, I hope J plays Sludgefeast

Crap, who knows if I’ll be there at all now. A friggin’ snowstorm this weekend! I hate to drive that far in the snow….but don’t know if I can sit at home with a set of Mascis tickets either! Holt, ya sure you don’t want a ticket and a ride to philly?
Considering the warnings and comments about earlier shows….this iz gonna be a loud one, huh?
I’m coming in from Bellefonte (smack in the center of PA). I don’t know if it’s closer than the DC show, but I’m familiar with the Northstar (and really like the place)…plus I have to work Friday night anyway. Based on the replies I think I’ll be the only person there
I can see it now, plenty of space to move around…no drunks bouncing off of me or yelling in my ear
Maybe I’ll spin my copy of "Big Top Halloween" by the Afghan Whigs tonight…
Speaking of which…what the hell is Greg Dulli doing these days, anyone know? I’m still waiting for the supposed project between him and Mark Lanegan.
Decscendents–Coolidge. Yeah, I actually busted out some of my cassette tapes last night. Maybe it was the beer that was making me all nostalgic…
Most truckstops around central PA serve up a good greasy hamburger. Although I haven’t tried one of these yet (and probably never will…they’re scary lookin’), there is a place not too far from here (I think in Boalsburg) that serves up a SIX POUND hamburger. I’m still not sure why anyone would want to eat one of those things!
Mountain Man!!! Of course, the fact that Quest follows it is just icing on the cake…

Afghan Whigs – Up in it
Seaweed – Spanaway
Dinosaur jr self titleAnthonyg, was that you in the corner next to the stairs with the junk clipped to your hat? I’m just hoping someone can get a copy of that show out there for all of us to enjoy. Friday’s show was so much better than the one I saw in March. Of course, I was in a much better spot this time…right next to the staircase, so I had a nice ledge to put my beer on. Of course, everyone else was always reaching in front of me to put their empty on there as well. I was very excited to see the guys from Cobra Verde setting up their instruments as J was getting ready…just KNEW it would rock…what a great moment when they busted out with J in That’s How it’s Gotta Be….and don’t even get me started on the Ammaring solo! I hope everyone else had a great time there as well.
My friend drove us down in his car, and we managed to get a great parking spot right on 27th. I guess he parked a few spots farther up than he thought, and you should’ve seen his face when his car wasn’t sitting where he thought it would be! Apparently I told him too much about my last experience in that neighborhood…squeapler, northstar is on 2639 poplar street, right on the corner of 27th if that helps…I’m not all that familiar with philly.
Yeah, northstar is definitely in the ghetto…never been in that neighborhood before the March show, so my brother, a friend and I wandered around looking for a place to eat and stuff. Let’s see, got approached by a drug dealer, dodged trash in the streets, and saw a nice group of young boys riding dirt bikes and four wheelers down the street. I actually might grap a bite to eat at that place right up the steet on Girard…had a good pizza pie there last time while listening to some drunk old man talk shit to a girl and her momma. Anyone know what time the first act is starting, as well as when J is going to go on? Last time it was about 4am till I drove us back to Centre County…go PA turnpike coffee!!!

Mike Johnson — 100% off
You kick ass deepslush! I just checked out the Cat’s Cradle website and saw that J is playing there on July 6. I’ve only ever seen him twice…once in Pittsburgh at Lollapalooza, and a few months ago in Philly. This is so great! Do you know what kind of a place Cat’s Cradle is (neighborhood, atmosphere, etc.)? Anyone else going to that show? Thanks again!
