Yeah they mentioned it last night at the Toronto show.
When they came out, thier was balloons on the Mic Stands and on the Cymbals, that had Happy Birthday Lou written on them. They came out and during the first song, Lou popped them all with his hands.
At a quieter point in between songs, some one up front yelled "Happy Birthday Lou" and Lou replied "Fuck You!".
Lou later said something like, I’m 39 years old today. I’m 39 years old and playing in a rock band. we just played 11 shows in a row. Thats a big deal when your a 39 year old man.
When they went off stage at the end, we were all cheering for an encore. Some guy came onstage and said sing "Happy Birthday to Lou" The crowd sang Happy Birthday to Lou then they came out and played 3 more songs to end it off.
They thanked Toronto, and I think they mentioned thanks for the Birthday wishes.
It was an amazing show.
That was the best Dinosaur Jr. show I’ve ever seen.
I’ve seen them at an outdoor festival before and a larger indoor venue and the sound/noise/volume got kinda lost. It was nice and loud at the Phoenix the way Dinosaur Jr. should be heard.
It’s amazing how noisey, loud and chaotic the sound can get but there is always a melody or tune in there.
It was good to see and hear. Not many bands can fill a venue with sound like that. Never mind the fact that Dinosaur Jr. is only a three peice, but thier sound is way bigger than most four or five piece bands.
Definately a treat to hear Dino Jr. kick it out full volume
