Dinosaur Jr. as their most creative point was basically over by the end of 1989 but that was a noisier more punk type era with SST etc that can’t be recreated. I look at their 90’s material as their next phase with their live performance for the 1992 Whatever’s Cool with me being a very good tour where they were really peaking. Same with 1991 Green Mind Tour. I would say 1994 marked a change with a change to more of a subtle ear bleeding country sound but one could say that happened in 1993 with where you Been. Truly, the 2000’s is a separate distinctive era for Dinosaur Jr. with the 3 albums, each good respectively and a new live sound. I think they went in a refreshing new direction with I Bet on Sky, a smart career move showing off their ability to appeal to all ages including some younger music fans. And I must say they have all the great pop sensibilities without losing their edge and creativity. This truly, is a band that should be a first ballot hall of fame group because of how much great material they have written and continue to do in an innovative fashion while remaining a great live band that’s loud and rockin.
I’ve always felt that Let it Ride would be an awesome opener live. Also there is so much material on WAS and Green Mind that are great songs that are seldomly heard live.
